We have been to this place a few times since it's right by our home. Last night we stopped and the food the last couple of times has been below average. I had enchiladas and asked for red and green sauce and only got red, no big deal. The enchiladas were chicken and they were stuffed with huge pieces of onion. This place is so delicious. Definitely worth the try. We were a little bummed that they couldn't seat all 11 of our family together because of COVID restrictions but were thankful to have a kind server. The chips and salsa were really good and my ribeye steak tacos were bomb. I am pretty pleased with the authentic taste in the food. Also LOVED the fact that they cooked the tortillas so that they wouldn't rip while holding the taco. I will say I'm pretty hard to please since I myself am Mexican. The only thing that didn't make this an amazing experience was the lack of service from our server towards the end of our stay. Girlfriend and I came in on a Sunday night. I'm not sure if that changed the quality of service and food, but both were extremely off. It took us 40 minutes to get our food despite it being pretty slow (maybe 7 other people being served). I ordered the green chili plate and girlfriend ordered a cup of menudo. Food arrived and I got the greasiest green chili plate and gf got a bowl of menudo that she returned for a cup. I'm well aware that green chili with pork is fatty, but it shouldn't be producing pools of grease, making everything around it inedible. Food was outstanding. Service was great. Their cucumber mint margarita was probably the best margarita I've ever had. This place was a bit hard to find (corner of shopping center) but definitely fits the bill of a hole-in-the-wall spot. Decorum and atmosphere was consistent with an authentic Mexican restaurant. My only concern was that it was unseasonably hot inside the restaurant, I was unsure if it was a broken A/C unit or if it's a normal occurrence so we moved to the outdoor seating where it was hot (Phoenix Summer), but had a bit of an afternoon breeze. Overall I was satisfied with my experience here and the food was very delicious and had a large menu of items not normally found (sweet tamales and chilaquiles). Was in the area and craving Mexican food. Found this restaurant was open for dine-in and gave it a try. It was delicious! I tried Juana's Chunky Guacamole as a starter and found it to be very refreshing. The guacamole comes with all the normal mix-ins plus some cucumber and mango, and then it's topped with shredded cheese. I also ordered the enchiladas and opted for chicken and paid the additional $2.00 to make them suizas. It was worth it! Everything about the meal was enjoyable and I ate until I was full and still had food leftover. The restaurant has lots of table and is decorated with fun, bright colors. The wait time to actually receive our food after sitting and ordering was at least 30+ min because the restaurant was busy with a lot of to-go orders. No problem. We ordered the queso fundido which was AMAZING, but 3 small flour tortillas is not enough to devour it all. My Bf has the mole enchiladas and I wasn't a fan of the taste. I understand everyone makes it different, but this was a pass for me. I ordered the chicken soles which were a 5/10. This location has indoor and outdoor seating. Service has always been the best. I love the online ordering feature. You can order, make request and add notes to each entree you order. I have tried mainly the meatless meals. All are very good and tasty. My favorite the calabacitas. Cooked perfectly and seasoned well. La Casa de Juana uses a lot of cilantro! This statement may make one's mouth water, but, not me. I am the odd gene person who think cilantro tastes like soap. But their food is so good I just pick it out and give to dear hubby because he LOVES cilantro so it works. The salsa is fresh every time I have ordered. Sauce is not hot but has rich flavor and color. I like to mix the red and green because that makes me happy. Continued success to this location. Bottom line, this place doesn't season their food and if you are someone that likes their food it's likely that you don't season your food either. It seems they cater more to the area in which they are located. Food is very bland. The rice and beans were ok, I will say that. We sent back multiple items. Meneudo had zero flavor. I was given the wrong dish and was asked to keep it since it's 3 mini chimis in one (a whole burrito) , ordered some guacamole which again zero flavor, had to season it with salt and pepper and mind you it was $10 for the small portion they serve in a bigger bowl to make it appear like a log. The salsa that came out also had no flavor or heat. Before we ordered we told our waiter to give us a minute so we can decide if we're going to order based off the salsa alone you can tell a lot about a restaurant. We gave it a shot and regretted it. They are also short staffed like everywhere else so service was slow, our waiter was sweet though and we gave her a good tip.
