Two are surprised and delight he let us across the street to a large terrazzo overlooking the marina and let us to a terrific table there. So everything we ordered was transported by the staff across traffic. The Terazzo filled up quickly with couples and large families enjoying the atmosphere and fabulous cuisine. The service was simultaneously professional and exuded family feeling. As it showed there were several generations of the owners family in the front and back of house. Our piece de resistance was a sea bass grilled for two. magnificent. And for dessert we had a transporting Baba al limoncello. The Baba's were so delicious and so soaked, it was a good thing we had walked to the restaurant and wouldn't have to drive home!

My wife ordered the grilled calamari as a starter and it was PERFECT. The owner of the restaurant was helping us and he showed me the fresh seafood that had just come in. I saw a branzino and he said it was enough for two persons. He offered to do it in a salt bake even though it was not on his daily menu. My wife wanted a side of fresh pasta but not an entire plate. He offered to do a half portion for her. The food did not disappoint. The place is a bit rustic but the food and service was excellent. The entire bill was 80 euros, which we found very inexpensive for the food we ate and wine we drank.

The establishment is very intimate and small. Due to its popularity, it is advised that you call before coming for a view of the ocean and an excellent meal. The chef and her son, Marco, are the only two running the Osteria. Our experience was very personalized, we were catered by both like house guests. The ingredients are as fresh as can be; the port is right in front of you! Quality is top-notch and you can taste the love that is put into making each dish. The calamari, shrimp, and tuna (everything!) we had throughout our lunch were cooked perfectly. One of my favorite menu items is the Baccala Bruschetta (shown in the added picture): salted cod, potato, onion, and more cooked together and placed on 2 kinds of hot toasted bread. My other favorite is the plate of sardines on arucola, drizzled with a sweet, thick balsamic vinegar. The natural saltiness of the sardines, the crisp freshness of the rucola, and the caramel sweetness of the aged balsamic sent me straight to heaven. Everything we ordered was a hit. Shrimp were all peel and eat. The 'scampi' was comprised of large whole limp crawfish. The best dishes were whole oven-baked fish and quite wonderful oven baked sliced potatoes. If you're careful in your ordering you can have a lovely meal and evening. Wonderful fresh salad and cold seafood salad as well. One final caveat - do not sit by the interior windowed wall. It forms a wind and heat seal and turns the table into a sauna.

It could not be a more beautiful location for experiencing the most incredible local Italian food. We tried pizzas, appetizers, and everything else. We got a pitcher of Prosecco to wash it all down. This meal made memories that may ruin me for stateside US restaurants. If you've already researched or ventured into Monte Argentario you know that this isn't a tourist town. This is local Italians only where only Italian is spoken. Not many foreign tourists know about Argentario & we quickly had to brush up on ordering and communicating in Italian to get through (and avoid being exiled as annoying tourists) Speaking of exiled, Caravaggio was exiled to Argentario where he lived out his later years. His tomb can be found in Porto Ercole. It's a fascinating, beautiful, very local and rural town. And such an awesome adventure!! Just go!!

At first, I thought there wasn't enough prawns in the dish but there were some under the pasta!
