An incredible collection of wines numbers in the thousands, without a doubt, and includes vintages of some of my favorite Brunellos that were sold out in the entire USA years ago. The owner is extremely knowledgeable, steered me to many new incredible finds in wines that "punch above their weight" as far as quality for the cost. She and her staff are kind, and quick to pour you a taste of something good, and the wide variety of gourmet food items and coffees is icing on the cake! Don't miss it in the wonderful town of Stresa, and be sure to swing by and look at the website to search for your favorites. read more

My Mrs. & I recently vacationed here for over a week with a Tour group. We decided not to do the all day Saturday Tour of Milan having already spent several days there on anther Trip. Besides, having "day off" seemed like a good idea for leisurely day especially after the fabulous dinner and evening before. So late morning, we self indulged with a fabulous Gelato and decided it was too rich to then have lunch. So we went to the for-normal-local -residents grocery Store, a Carrefours, and bought some Bread, Gorgonzola Cheese, Crackers, Prosciutto, Cappola etc. All we needed was some wine for our lake-view Balcony picnic. We had already visited La Cambusa- now it was time to rerun and see what the Owner, Rosaria recommended- she having owned this delightful Store for over 53 years. She recommended a lovely local small vintage Dolcettta (great with the Cheese), and even loaned us two nice Wine Glasses (which we were sure to return the next day...washed). She was lovely, spent a fair amount of time with us explaining anything of interest (including her dried pasta's). Shen even made sure we were aware of the daily late afternoon wine tastings we unfortunately missed. But her store is excellent, and she is a delightful and friendly woman who revels in the soft sale approach and how to be subtle in marketing her store and values. Visit her and her adult Children helping to run the place. She's terrific, friendly and will be a lovely memory for along time. read more

La Cambusa is one of my wife's and my regular stops. We've eaten here for breakfast, lunch and an early dinner. The food and drinks are good, and the service is excellent. The staff is always friendly and they even help us with our Italian. Their drinks are excellent and their aperitivo with them is plentiful. We come here at least once a week. read more

I cannot say enough great things about Enteca La Cambusa in Stresa Italy. This was An accidental find in 2005 ,the best shopping ,bar none, in all of Italy! It was so much fun . A wine shop, byes, But so much more! A gourmonds dream store. Rosaria the owner offers tastes of many items, wines, spreads ,tapenades, specialty crackers and bread sticks, etc. don't need lunch after! always with a smile and pleasant conversation, not a hard sell in the place, no need to because the place sells itself! Besides all the great wine, I discovered there are larger bottles of Modena Aceto balsamic vinegars are for sale ,made by mom and pop balsamic vineyards, at a much more reasonable price than little sexy consortium (small ) expensive bottles. And the selection is awesome !!! 100's of different BV makers. Not to mention gourmet pasta, dried porchini mushrooms, herbs etc. Like i said gourmet heaven. Rosaria, the owner is so wonderful, warm and friendly that we happily spent more than an hour looking, tasting and talking. She makes you feel like family. She Also, gives great restaurant recommendations! The store will ship to the States ,which is great! I can get the best of Modena made reserva balsamic vinegar, not sold in the states, and is only sold in a few places in Italy, (hint hint made by Guiseppe Cattani). Probably the best Balsmic vinegar that i ever tasted. Please Don't miss la combusa!!! read more
