It was expensive but worth the once in a lifetime cost. The scallop course was the best scallop dish I have had in life. They were seared to perfection and the meat was so tender and sweet it was incredible. I also loved the pork and ravioli dish and the artichoke dish. We dined in the off season and it was cold and drizzly outside. They had a nice fire going in the fireplace for us. The dining room wasn't very busy. We were the first diner to arrive and our first coursed arrived very quickly. Once others started to arrive it slowed down quite a bit. At the end when were starting to tire, it slowed to a snails pace. (Speaking of which I also loved the escargot dish. I have never had them prepared this way and loved every bite!) That would be our only complaint. Otherwise a perfect evening.

Okay now to the review. My wife and I did the smaller of the two tasting menus which was still plenty of food. First dish was the Large Dublin Bay Prawn with a sheet of pasta on it. I did not know prawns could be so tender. I now know I have been eating prawns over cooked my entire life. Second was the squid small and big. Perfect! The croutons filled with soup was a nice touch not to mention I could eat a bowl of them like cereal. Third was The pigeon costieres. Fantastic with summer spinach. Cheese trolley came after and I don't think I have ever had unpasteurized cheese before. We just asked for an assortment and the selections they choose from us was thee goat and three cows milk. The desert was light cream with vanilla ice cream. Extremely light with the millefeuille. A nice touch and perfect close to a wonderful meal.

The day we were there, the courses were: - Salad - Vegetables and cod - Snails - Cheese - Choice of dessert Each course probably could have been a meal on its own, and on top of all that, we were gorging on their incredible bread throughout the meal. The salad was very good, with the one downside being that it had anchovies, which we're not fans of. We both thought the veggies and fish were fairly pedestrian -- good, but not something I'd be really excited to get again. The snails, on the other hand, were surprisingly great. Neither of us eat snails, but we decided to be brave, and were rewarded for it. They were outstanding, as was the restaurant's home made mustard that we dipped them in. The cheese, though, is what we'll really remember though. For this course, they brought out a giant tray of cheeses, and you take as much of each as you want. By this point in the meal, we were both incredibly stuffed, but it didn't matter -- we took a ton of cheese, and it was tremendous. We both felt pretty gross afterwards, but it was worth it. That wasn't even the end, though -- after a little cool down period, we got dessert. My wife got chocolate ice cream, and I got the chocolate mousse, which was outstanding. Altogether, this is an experience I would definitely recommend, as we really enjoyed it, but it's not without its warts. My biggest pieces of advice would be to be prepared to eat a LOT, and check the menu in advance.

Servers are affable and accommodating to dietary menu amendments, something many other Provence restaurants discourage. We dined there twice with consistently impressive results. The menu is diverse by Provence standards, where many restaurants offer two or three main courses. There are two can't-miss menu options that should be on every diner's table: (1) the lamb shoulder, which cooks for seven hours and can be separated with a spoon; and (2) the Asian marinated pork ribs, similarly cooked for five hours until it simply falls off the bone and melts in your mouth. Somehow, even with these delicacies, the desserts steal the show. Guests are invited to the dessert display to select their meal's final course. Make sure you leave plenty of room and order several desserts to sample.

It started well enough with a nice bottle of Chablis and a good tomato starter, but it quickly went downhill from there. Our mains were served, and both dishes were so disappointing -- I had their signature chicken dish that was bland and dry, my wife had a cod concoction that was mediocre at best, especially for the prices they were charging. After our first couple of bites, our table was soon swarmed by flies...and I'm not talking about a few, I'm talking a complete SWARM to the point that we had to cover the dishes with napkins to keep the flies off our food. The server finally came over and put one of those pest fans on our table. This didn't really help, and after trying to finish, we simply gave up, covered the remaining food with our napkins, and just finished our wine. Not good at all. And then when the daylight was fading, they turned on these bright LED lights in the umbrellas overhead -- we suddenly felt like we were dining in a doctors office.. And after all this, the only solution the manager came up with (after never coming over to our table at all) was for us to take our half eaten meal into their deserted indoor dining area across the street. Simply unacceptable. There were other problems as well but you get the idea...don't let the idyllic pictures fool you, AVOID this place at all costs! That"s $200 we will never get back. So many better places to eat in St. Remy -- DON"T GO HERE! Consider yourself warned...
