Stepping into this restaurant feels like taking a trip to Mexico for lunch. The decor is beautifully traditional, and the menu features authentic dishes, including Menudo and Pozole. The staff is both informative and helpful, making the experience even better. The chips and salsa were fantastic, with a variety of salsas to choose from. Also, had Coke bottled in Mexico. (My Favorite) I ordered the Pozole (a dish I traditionally eat once a year for New Year's), and it was absolutely delicious. It came with all the classic accompaniments: radish, onions, lime, oregano, cabbage, and avocado. The flavors were rich, and the portion was generous--a true treat! My wife had the Huevos Americanos and loved every bite. Most of the patrons were Hispanic (including my wife and daughter), which is always a good sign of authenticity. I was so excited to try this place. Small, cozy, I thought the food will knock my socks off, but instead it was the worst fajita meat ever. Tough, yet somehow chewy and fatty. I couldn't eat one. I plan on going back because it was that bad, it must be an abomination and not a true reflection of the restaurant. If it is better I will gladly change my review, but as of right now, it is literally the worst Mexican food meal I have ever had. read more

Food was great but the service was oh my goodness so horrible! Waitress never asked once if we needed anything once our meal was served. She lost the order ticket and had to come back to take the order again. When asked if the chicken was breast or thigh said she didn't know and didn't offer to ask the cooks. We met relatives at this halfway point between us after reading Yelp reviews for food spots in Corsicana. I will admit, I was sincerely doubting my choice as we drove up. Iron bars on the door and windows of this obviously old building kind of in a neighborhood. We went on inside and found a very old but super clean restaurant with no one inside. A very sweet young lady brought menus out to us and we asked for her suggestions as we were first timers. There was a glass front cooler with an amazing variety of Mexican sodas. Tempting but we were cold and it was rainy. She immediately brought out tortilla chips and a red and a green salsa. Both were fresh and spicy but not overpoweringly. We all opted for tacos al carbon with a mix of chicken and steak. Soft flour tortillas were filled to the brim with meat. Chopped up a bit, but still moist and crispy at the same time. The rice was good and well seasoned and the beans actually had some real flavor. Lots of people came in as we sat and enjoyed conversation so it was busy enough but never too loud to talk. Super good pricing and good service. Nothing fancy, nor modern but if you want solid Mexican food at a price that doesn't hurt -- this little place is for you. No ambience but a good place to meet for lunch. read more

Not sure about the other reviews but my coworkers and I (we are teachers) eat here very often. They never disappoint and the food is DELICIOUS. It's annoying how someone commented about it not being on a good part of town when it sits across from a three story house lol. Anyways, the outside appearance isn't the best but it just looks like a neat, authentic hole in the wall. Their street chicken tacos are devine. Love their posole and as well as their Mexican drinks. Please try it before judging it. I DO NOT like refried beans with the exception of this place lol. Their beans are amazing and I love their rice. JUST give it a TRY! I do not care that it was not in the best part of town or that it was out of the way but you should at least cook like it was your last meal if you're owning a restaurant. We chose this restaurant while approaching Corsicana from out of town, based upon its high google rating. Our first impression was that this is a run-down building with a closed sign on the door but an open light in the window, and 1 car out front. But sometimes we have found nuggets in hole-in-the-wall places, so we gave it a shot. The staff was friendly, there was no margarita options (only beer), and the salsa served with chips was like spiced, watered down tomato sauce. The bowl of queso looked like it once started out as yellow velveeta cheese but was watered down so much it didn't even taste like cheese anymore. We asked the waitress if this was queso, she said "yes, this is what we have." If they were so willing to cheapen the queso what other corners were they cutting on the food? Tried this restaurant last weekend for the first time since it opened. Friendly service, wait time for our to-go order was pretty good considering it included two chile relleno plates and two quesadillas. The interior is simple, but cozy, spacious, and bright. My daughters devoured the chicken quesadillas, and the chile rellenos were some of the best I've tasted. Flavorful through and through. I sampled both the cheese and ground beef filling. Will have to try more soon. We came in the late afternoon when no one else was around, so my Spanish skills came in handy. I felt that our particular server was hesitant with English.
