It seems very typical of French restaurant to not begin serving food until around 7:30p so mistake on our part! When we came back at 7:30 half of the restaurant was already full but the owner gestured to a table which was reserved for us. I think what was most impressive is this restaurant is a one man show. The owner is both the chef and the server and is able to do everything for the restaurant at the same time. While we were dining, many locals stopped in to get to-go salads or tabbouleh which really shows that this is one of the best spots to go to in Le Mans. For food we ordered a charcuterie plate, gazpacho, vegetarian salad, and an aperetif. All the food was extremely delicious. My favorite was definitely the gazpacho which had the perfect amount of kick to it. I'd also never had melon with my salad with spices on top, the mixture of the sweet and savory was amazing. I will definitely be back here if we are in Le Mans again. The service we received was amazing, the food prices were reasonable, and the food was impeccably delicious. The owner spoke some english and we were able to order with my limited knowledge of french, he stopped by many times throughout the meal to ensure we were liking the food and to see if we wanted anything else.

There was a line out the door, but they told us it would be thirty minutes, and sure enough thirty minutes later they led us downstairs to the cool cave dining area. Great menu of traditional French fare, our entire party was totally impressed. At the end we were presented with our desserts and a complimentary cherry brandy that was so so delicious! Everyone couldn't believe that we'd each had this amazing meal of three courses and that we each paid only 25 euros. So, fantastic food all at a great bargain, and atmosphere to boot!

Upon arriving, we entered the caves for an incredible tour and history. The experience of being in the caves as we heard the history of the space was incredible. Two waiters…read more Fair prices (three prix fixe options with about 6 choices in each category, plus an a la carte menu). Typical french quisine (great escargot, phenomenal salmon entre). The food was quite good: even the E21 prix fixe meal we both had got us three excellent courses, all with great presentations and all quite tasty. I would rate the food a 5 out of 5. The service was adequate, with just a soupcon of french attitude (we wound up leaving cash on the table because the waiter never came back with our bill, and his explanation of the menu items was surly and not helpful). About that ridiculous French attitude: we arrived at 18:30 to an open door, with 4 restaurant workers sitting outside smoking, and were told they didn't open until 19:00 (a peculiar custom we had already encountered everywhere). We decided to wait since nothing else was open. At 18:50 a group of 20 or so Brit race fans showed up, and th hey were also turned away. Five minutes later we were seated.
