I had the pleasure of dining at LA BERGERIE on Oct. 2nd with 8 of my travel companions, celebrating our last evening in the Loire-valley after 10 splendid days exploring the environs. The owner David Guitton, who speaks excellent English, was the chef and waiter that evening as we were the only guests. We had a choice of a 3 or 4 course dinner - we chose 3 with wine-pairing. Several incl. me started with sweetbread followed by pollock, which was prepared to perfection!! - and finished the never-to-forget-meal with a warm pear dessert. (Wish I could describe the meal in more detail, but do not have the menu any more).
Monsieur Guitton and family have their own vineyards, and our meals were accompanied by the loveliest and most perfect wines from their harvests.
The small restaurant has an attractive modern decor, and candles everywhere make for a special ambiance and warmth. We had some difficulty finding the place, but once there, we were in a restaurant 'never-to-be-forgotten'. AU REVOIR from Eva Tank-Nielsen read more
