My partner and I were happy to find a restaurant that was open on Bastille Day after the fireworks at 11:00 p.m. The streets were crowded with people from many different walks of life. Most of the food near the plaza was Carnival type food like cotton candy and canistrelli, a traditional Corsican cookie, but we wanted a solid hot meal. My partner ordered the white pizza, which he didn't like very much. He found it too heavy for that time of night. I ordered the salad with tomatoes, mozzarella and aubergines, (eggplant), which I really enjoyed. I also enjoyed the seafood pasta which tasted delicious although I was expecting more than miniscule shrimp that had clearly been previously frozen. Uninterested chap who waited tables, planted two small drinks before us then went to chat with fellow Corsicans. Billed for 9 Euro 's I laid a 10 note in then basket with no intention for a tip, he grabbed it and we never saw him back with the return money despite our trying to contact him.
