A gem in Big Bear for authentic Mexican dishes. I have been going to this restaurant for over 2 years now. The food is delicious. I ordered a dish off the menu and it came out to be one of the best taco salads I've ever had. The taco shell was fresh and had a soft crisp, guac was delicious with the perfect amount of spice and not to mention the grilled shrimp was sooo tasty. I recommend 10/10. Finally got to try this hidden gem with my husband. Would highly recommend to anyone craving some authentic Mexican food! Upon getting seated we were served chips and salsa, (which tasted great). We ordered the Torta combo (comes with fries) to share and one order of that it self was huge and more than enough for my husband and I to share ! The food came out so fast and the torta was delicious and filling. The fries were also crispy and perfect. This place is kind of hidden but definitely worth stopping by to, the service we received was amazing. The restaurant it self has great parking and feels so welcoming, there's indoor and outdoor seating. 10/10 read more

We came in hungry and we each ordered a burrito - one shrimp and one asada. This place is a family-runner restaurant with some wonderful surprises. We ordered fish and the shrimp cocktail. The shrimp cocktail was absolutely delicious! Most restaurants make it with Clamato and a little ketchup. Here it's a rich dark salsa base that is better than my mother's recipe. Amazing. The homemade chips are addicting, and they come with 2 delicious green and red salsas. It is hard to get authentic Mexican flavors in these parts (Big Bear). We were very pleasantly surprised. 2 stars is being kind. I'm not sure what other people saw in this place. The chorizo burrito my son had, was not good at all, the carnitas tacos my wife had, had no flavor, my granddaughter had chicken nuggets , she wasn't able to eat one, she tried ketchup and it was spoiled tasted like vinegar. The beans were tasteless, my other 2 granddaughters had burritos, they ate about a quarter of it. 7 people so the charge 20% extra, bill came out to $193.72 I don't like to give bad reviews, but we will never be back to this place. Woke up on the mountain craving a Mexican breakfast that would be walking distance. I hopped onto Yelp and found La Bamba. We arrived just before opening but were still provided with a friendly greeting. Although the location was not open yet I asked to have a seat inside and wait. There was no hesitation to let us wait about 10 minutes and wait as we reviewed the menu. The menu contains your average variety of Mexican favorites. From juevos rancheros to burritos they have it all. I was soon provided with chips and salsa and a couple minutes later I found myself ordering a michelada with my choice of Pacifico beer. The michelada was good, not great but still good. The chips were crispy, the red salsa tasty with a level 6 out of ten kick. Sadly the green was a little hard to find the flavor in. Soon after we ordered and received our plates. Chilequilles, juevos rancheros and a shrimp burrito. Shrimp burrito was a bit dull, overly riced and lacked flavor. The juevos rancheros were a small portion which had some flavor. The beans were the star of that plate. And the Chilequilles plate. This plate appeared to have a home made sauce which although spicy, lacked depth. The chips were not overly soaked and my over easy egg was adequate. The rice was ok and the beans were delightful. Would I return ? I like the supporting small business idea but the prices are comparable to the larger Mexican restaurants nearby and they have nicer ambiance. The imperfect food would be easier to swallow if the prices were a tad bit lower. I would most likely not return unless they kick the food up a notch or slightly lower the prices. Three stars, friendly service, ample parking and a good michelada. read more

2.5/5 so I'll round it up to 3 but yikes... this place is definitely not a place I'll ever go to again. I got the chicken quesadilla and other reviews have said it was good and flavorful, I'd have to disagree with that. The quesadilla was so bland and was something I could've made at home with some Costco chicken rotisserie. It comes with a very small handful of lettuce and tomato's and not a lot of sour cream either. I asked if I could get guac on the side as this is usually an option, the waitress said no problem but bought me a whole order for the guac not just a side and charged an extra $10.. and didn't inform me that she'd bring me a whole order. I specifically asked for a side hoping it'd be ($2-3) but it ended up being another $10 . I was not a fan of the guac either as it was not even really green. Refer to pictures. My total meal ended up being $22 for the chicken quesadilla and guac and honestly I was really disappointed and dissatisfied. My friends said their burritos were good though. In my opinion the pros about this place was that it was cozy and had a very authentic vibe while dining. read more

Best wet burrito I've had in a while and also really good chips and salsa. Definitely worth a try if u want some real Mexican food.

Here's the thing, they could easily take this to 4/5 stars by doing one of two things. Lowering the prices or keep the prices as is and increasing the portion sizes. I felt like everything else was good, the place serves a lot of different dishes and is tucked away in a low key area of the Village. Their food taste was definitely there, I didn't find it to be bland like other reviews mentioned and I liked their green salsa a lot on my burrito. The girls running the counter were both polite and helpful. They brought my wife and me our beers while we waited and had our food prepared quickly, wrapped up and ready to go. I know that this season has been tough on everyone up there due to the fires so I definitely would like them to do well and the place was busy when we went on Saturday night, maybe they're having to watch overhead expenses. My only knocks were size to price ratio but if you're looking for Mexican food in and around the village and don't want to go all fancy or be overrun with a crowd they're worth checking out. read more

Cute little Mexican place off the main road kinda hidden away. The inside is decorated in the fun colorful traditional style. You order & pay at the counter then they bring your food. I got their signature burger it was very unique with a lot of fun toppings like asada, chorizo, green salsa & pineapple. Also got some fries and some beers with it. My food was great but I do wish my beer was a lot colder... frosted mugs would really help. The place was fairly clean & they have some outdoor seating I'm sure is super nice in summer. The service was friendly & helpful but disorganized. My main issue is their hours are not accurate online and their posted hours as well. I had to come here 3 times before I caught them on a time they are open! That's like my biggest pet peeve especially when you drive far to eat & the place is closed repeatedly!! We normally wouldn't have eaten here but all the popular restaurants on Pine knot were extremely busy due to it being Labor Day weekend. As we pulled up my husband jokingly said "let's see how long until we get food poisoning from this joint". Well he was right! My family and I got violently ill after eating at this restaurant. We tried the carne asada plate which was extremely hard to cut and had no taste, then ordered a cheeseburger. We all ate some of that except my daughter. That night around 2:30am the three of us all had horrible diarrhea which lasted into the next day. Please be careful if you choose to eat at this restaurant. I've noticed that there's several reviews saying how the food isn't flavorable or that it lacks of flavor. I'd have to disagree, i went to this restaurant and it was absolutely delicious! My older brother ordered a Torta Cubana and he really enjoyed it. Myself orered a plate of chicken enchiladas and they were super amazing. Really great service, everyone was super kind. super great restaurant. this restaurant is honestly really underrated. not that big but the food really knocks your socks off! MUST try! read more
