Catalano once said that the flower "is a synthesis of all the flowers and is both a hope that is reborn every day to open." It was created in 2002. The sculpture was designed to move, closing its petals in the evening and opening them in the morning. I just learned that due to it being not constructed properly it was shut down and left in the open position in 2010 and has not been repaired. In 2007 when I was there it was operating just fine. The park and surrounding area was a very nice place to walk and see the sights. The flower however took a very long time to close up at night while I was there. The group I was with got bored and didn't stay to see it completely close. Summery: If your in the area sightseeing you should check it out. If it ever gets fixed you should take a picnic dinner or an early breakfast and enjoy the park. But while it is still broken, swing by anytime and have a nice walk around it and get some exercise.
