Italian food in Switzerland? Absolutely!! Don't leave without trying it. Most of our favorite meals during this trip were Swiss Italian. Just look at where Switzerland is on the map and you'll totally understand why the cuisine here is diverse.
We just happened to see L'Osteria near our hotel. I don't know how long the restaurant has been there, but it still looked new. There's indoor and outdoor seating. We were grateful that they had a table for 2 by the bar. Especially because we didn't have a reservation, as well as the fact that it was raining outside.
I so wish that I could remember our server's name. I think it was Ana. She told us that she's from the Philippines. We loved her bubbly & warm personality. She gave us great suggestions, and told us right away that we could split a pizza with 2 choices of any specialty combination. My husband selected the Funghi Freschi for his half of the pizza. I decided to try the Parmigiana. We also ordered the Insalata Mista as our side salad.
The pizza is a large size. It's intentionally served on a small pizza platter to give it an overflowing effect. The crust was thin & crispy which is the I way I like it. The sauce, cheese, and toppings were all very tasty. I love that the eggplant is thinly sliced and whole. The chestnut mushrooms on my husband's side of the pizza were very fresh. The salad & dressing was fresh and tasty as well. It was a very good meal! I think the only thing that I wouldn't order again is the Swiss Cherry Lemonade unless it's an ingredient in a cocktail. By itself, it's kind of weak and more like a juice drink served to a child. I should have listened to my server and ordered an alcoholic drink instead. Other than that, everything was perfect.
Don't pass this one up if you happen to be staying anywhere near Ufschötti Park. It's popular for a reason. They also have a full bar and lively atmosphere. The service is quick & efficient without feeling rushed. It was very enjoyable! read more
