Warm, friendly service despite the heat of the day in Lecce. They also provide Salento wines--perfect for our dining (We had a Li Cuti Vendemmia 2014 that just complemented our meal). It is on the outer edge of the old part of Lecce. We were sent by recommendation from a local. We hoped it would be a great find...you know off the beaten track with great food, but sadly it is edible and not special. The view was of modern and insignificant buildings. The older part of the city is so beautiful and vibrant, I'd rather be in the older part if eating average food. One waitress was sweet, but forgetful. The other staff did their best to ignore us. I watched people sit and leave because they couldn't get served despite having only a couple of tables filled. Plenty of other options in Lecce. Did not work for us.

We walked into the restaurant and was ushered to the seafood chest by one of the waitstaff. The waitress lead us through the process of choosing our seafood, deciding the cooking process, and then sat us down. We ordered tuna tartare which was fresh, tender, and delicate. I ordered fried seafood for my main and my friend ordered mussels and a ravioli. We were seated... the restaurant was dimly lit, white table cloths dressed the tables, and restaurant felt more romantic than a friendly local hangout. The food was amazing and I can't wait to go back and eat again.

The concept was surprising at first - you order upfront after surveying the day's "catch" on ice. We ordered several of the restaurant's dishes as described on the blackboard, and then chose a whole fish to be grilled. My husband went crazy over the creamy burrata with a tartare of wild red shrimp. The fritto misto was so generously portioned and so light and good - best one we've tried since Venice. The pasta with clams was elegant, refined, and tasted like the ocean. Our simply grilled fish was fresh and tasty, served with an asian-ish cucumber salad, as well as the grilled zucchini we ordered with it. Perfection. A little pricier than most of the restaurants we have been eating at (although still a great value). Save it for a special occasion.
