Le Poeme I went…read morethere for lunch with my husband during our visit in Grignan. Such a lovely village! The place was well decorated and the lady who welcomed us was very attentive and kind. We took the lunch menu at 29 euros. First we got little amuse-bouche, warm toast with olive cream, then cream of asparagus with fresh cut vegetables. Followed by gazpacho with side of ham and perfectly cooked shrimps with curry and tomato sauce. I'm not a fan of curry, but the taste wasn't strong. It was delicious!!! I got the suggestion of the day: risotto aux cèpes with chicken stuffed with fois gras and my husband got the steak with mashed sweet potatoes. As dessert verbena sorbet with warm berries with a bit of alcohol. What a wonderful afternoon meal. I strongly recommend it!

The chef had taken his lunch, but the staff feeling sorry for our plight, made us delectable salads from what they had available: smoked salmon, ahi tuna, cheeses and greens topped with crispy onion, asparagus, pate and fresh baguette. Followed by meringue and coffee. It was the most wonderful meal, and incredibly thoughtful and kind of the staff to care for us this way. We will try to make it back for dinner before our trip is over. Highly recommend.

We had delicious escargots, sardines, sweetbreads, fresh dorade, salade, steak tatake, a shrimp poke, and a gorgeous pear tarte with eau de vie de poire inside. The portions were huge, the service by our waiter MILAN was fantastic! Definitely worth a trip to Gringnan if you are in the Drome area of France!!
