We went with 4 adults and all got different mussels so we could sample more varieties ... that worked well! The address is a little screwy as the name is said to be their address but according to the official city site for Palavas the address for the restaurant is actually their other street (they are on the corner). Chez Regis is tucked away in the corner of a very nice central part of the downtown area. My wife really liked the menu options and we had been looking around for awhile so we decided to give it a try. We were immediately seated as it was not very crowded at first, and were sat at a small table for two. We asked for a little bit bigger table to have a little more room but were told no, we had to sit at a table for two since there was only two of us. We sat on the outside patio and enjoyed the fresh air and watching all that was going on around us. By the time we were finished, there were a lot more customers that had arrived since we were first seated. We sat down and ordered drinks while we reviewed the menu. The menu had quite a few selections but we quickly noticed the main specialty and most of the options were Moules...or mussels. I ordered the Moules Gratinee and my wife ordered the Moules a l'escargot. Wow! These were by far the absolute best mussels we have every had...and definitely the best mussels we had during our two week trip to France. Both dishes were full of great flavor and were super delicious. The mussels were not tough at all and even though the serving was quite large, we devoured them all! We were actually quite surprised to see how large the serving was, especially for the price which was very affordable and probably the best price we saw for mussels during our visit as well. Our meal also came with a side of fries...which were also perfect! The staff was very friendly and attentive and we also used the restroom, which was inside the actual restaurant. The inside was very nice as well and the bathroom was very clean. Our only negative would be the table situation. As you can see from the pictures, the dishes were quite large. When you add drinks, bread and side of fries for each of us the table was quite cramped. Of course, the meal made up for it and we really enjoyed our experience at Chez Regis. The hosts were welcoming and helpful explaining the daily specials in their best if limited English and provided English menus. The restaurant itself is quite striking inside with a high stone arch ceiling and well executed decor. The food leans heavily to seafoods of course. It was high quality and substantial portions. I felt bad about not being able to finish my swordfish and my in laws struggled to finish their plates. The kids loved their selections as well as they chocolate cake. The wine list was very good with quite a few local varieties. All in all this place felt a step above the other spots in the tourist ghetto along the waterfront and I would be happy to go back.
