This is a great library! Bright and open. Lots of books and activities. Lots of employees to assist. Safe and inviting. Parking is the biggest challenge. read more

The shear…read moreamount of historical objects in this building is stunning, and the history behind it is amazing. The tour guides will tell you about the two houses built before the one that currently stands. The families that owned these houses helped form the midwest to be what it is today--something I never would have even imagined if I hadn't come here. Some of the wealthiest people in 1800s America lived in Menomonie. I'm taking away one star because I can't imagine that the tour would be quite as fascinating without my art history professor there, but it would be pretty close. This is a must-visit if you're going to be in the area!

This is privately owned by Wisconsin Farmland Conservancy. There are two trails you can take with…read moredifferent looks at the sandstone. One is the top side with a walk around the back and two a set of steps leading down into the bottom of the gorge. The parking lot is dirt and gravel and a first come parking assignment. Either walk you decide are reasonable at your pace. Getting the view from the bottom was the best view in my opinion. I enjoyed the water coming from the falls and beautiful details it provides.

Seriously, I've been adventuring with my…read morekids for years (we live in the Twin Cities, but a 1-2 hour drive is fine for us), and I had never come across this place before. It's truly a hidden gem. Besides being a top-notch county historical society museum -- complete with a "prairie kid" dress-up room for younger kids, maybe 3 to 7 years old -- there's an incredible maker's workshop in the back with *tons* of STEM-based activities to do and/or take home, for anyone of any age. We could have spent all day there. Family admission caps off at $12. Worth every penny. Again, I can't overemphasize this enough, it's a very exciting hidden gem within reasonable driving distance from the Twin Cities.
