Brasserie Meteor or Meteor Brewing beers can be found all over France but in the U.S. it's fairly rare to find. It's a brand that has been around a very long time and when I mean a long time it's the 1600's we are talking about and 8 generations making this beer. Steve and I had two different beers from this brewery and we loved them both! We had the Blanche which is a Belgian style wheat beer, a kind you don't see in the U.S. much at all but super good with it's smoked, grainy flavors along with a subtle touch of banana which isn't dominating at all but very well balanced which adds a nice sweetness to the rest of the flavor profile. I believe we liked this beer the best out of the two simply because it's a beer style we don't normally get to try. The other beer Meteor's Pilsner wasn't disappointing in the slightest at all though and when I checked both beers on Untappd I gave them both the same and a very high score. This pilsner was light, hoppy, smooth and dry. Another splendid beer that we enjoyed from Meteor. As I mentioned before finding Meteor takes some work if not going France and you are in the U.S. Beer in the mail services is an option as long as you live in a state where this kind of shipping is allowed so if that isn't a hurdle I suggest checking out the website Half Time Beverage and you can order the Blanche and the Pilsner there for sure. I imagine with enough probing you might find it at bottle shops or liquor stores with a vast imported beer selection but those kind of stores aren't always easy to find without some trial and error. With that said with all the craft beer exploring I do at these kind of stores I've never seen Meteor physically on the shelf.

Had to hover around people and grab one before the other hoverers got it. You can't even get up from your seat to stretch your legs without someone jumping up to ask you for your seat. The place is a mad house. Food wise the selection and quality were great, though there was a bird flu outbreak when we were in France so the chicken and duck locations were out of both early in the day. I got a plate of 6 small bruschetta like snacks, almost mini open faced sandwiches. All were delicious. 4 with ham and different cheeses and 2 chicken (one curry one something else). We also got 2 desserts-a tart that tasted like key lime pie, so obviously it was wonderful, and a chocolate piece that we thought was a brownie but was actually pure concentrated fudge. Good but too much. And, obviously, we had some wine from Bordeaux and they were fantastic. Worth a stop if you want a good, inexpensive, meal, especially if your group all wants something different. But someone will have to guard your table and chairs with their lives.

It was not salty and its combination with salad was going very well. The knife they gave me was not easy to use and a bit to hard to eat with. I know that is a little detail but I would say 3.5. Other restaurants gave me better silvers for ease of use. Main was sea-bus. The visual could have been better but it was ok though cannot give four stars or it can be overly judged as it was not elaborated plate. I ended up with horrible pannacotta - 1star, which resulted two stars overall. That pannacotta was sitting in smelly fridge for a while and the cream absorbed other food and it stank.

Let me start with a warning - the portion sizes are ENORMOUS! We unwisely went for the foie gras starter, and then ordered duck confit and the salad with gizzard, duck ham and even more foie gras (basically the same as the starter, so just the main alone would have been an ample amount of foie gras...). This was a mistake, as we were scarcely anle to finish half of our mains :( The foie gras terrine was good (although not the best I have had), but was served with an artificial-tasting pain d'epices. However, the bread served alongside made up for it. The duck confit was delicious, but should have been pan-ried so as to give a crispy skin. The salad had much more meat than salad, and I would have preferred the ratio to be reversed. Apart from leaving feeling uncomfortably full, it was a good enough meal, but the good at Chez Paulette has got some room for improvement.

There were only four selections for each of the courses, so the care put into every plate was extremely apparent. For our starters, I tried the Salmon Ceviche, made of chunks of tender raw salmon in an acidic marinade, tossed with fennel and pickled red onions, which added a nice crunch. I also had the highly-recommended roasted Saint-Nectaire cheese topped with bacon--this was a warm, hearty, generous portion of decadent melted cheese served with croutons, and the bacon added a nice smokey, umami flavor! And then it was onto the mains. The salmon fillet was perfectly cooked and tender on the inside with crispy, seasoned skin on top. The fish was served over a risotto made with parmesan and beurre blanc sauce, but the rice turned out a bit on the mushy side for me. The Bavette steak served with bordelaise sauce and roasted new potatoes was definitely a hit--the thin steak was so juicy and tender, and the mini potatoes were soft and perfectly seasoned. Two amazing main dishes! And what's a meal without dessert? The classic tiramisu had a bitter flavor from the coffee and cocoa dusting on top, balanced off by the lightness of the mascarpone cheese and whipping cream. The dessert of strawberries with Chantilly cream was made of a cup of sliced strawberries in a light syrup, served with a dollop of whipped cream on the side, along with powder sugar and crushed nuts for decoration. The strawberries were a bit on the sour side (perhaps still early in the season) but paired deliciously with the airy whipped cream to make for a nice, light finish to the meal! For the 20 Euro price tag, this set menu was an absolute steal, and the service here was so quick and friendly too!
