Service was rushed at lunchtime on a summer weekday, when Fontevraud is overrun by bikers and Abbaye visitors dominating the small local restaurants. English was spoken but French very helpful if you want additional details before you order. Nice, they put out good and simple classics but try going during off-hours and off-season.

Great view of the water, chateau, and pretty garden on site. Great for drinks or dinner. Sat down early... They don't serve dinner until 7ish. So had a drink. Very tasty. And relaxing.... Then moved to another table for dinner. Got the meat plate as an appetizer. Very good. Great bread.... Then the pike perch with ratioulle. So good. Then to top it off the apple tart with fresh whipped cream. That was perfect and hit the spot!!! Mmmmm... The service was very good -- very attentive when needed. It rained halfway through the appetizer and the wait staff was great and made light of the situation. Very refreshing. Everything seems ultra fresh and on point.
