The fondue was excellent, the best you will have in Caen, however I would reccomend bringing around 4 people to finish a single fondue dish which is quite large, even though the menu says it is for at least 2. The meat is quite average, but the pave de bœuf I ordered was undercooked, almost raw. i asked for a few more minutes; and though my server graciously agreed, I discovered that it was still somewhat raw at the center after a second try. I would suggest avoiding the meats, but by all means do not hesitate with the excellent fondue.

This has to be the best restaurant by far in Cherbourg and perhaps all of France. Not only was the food delicious but the quantity was more than generous. The staff were very friendly and helpful, guiding us through the menu as our French is basic at best. We were impressed with the manager who rounded our very reasonable bill down rather than up and found time to chat with us. We can't wait to visit Cherbourg again and treat ourselves. The menu was posted out front in both French and English, which leads me to believe that plenty of American and British tourists stop by for a meal before their own D-Day tours. The hostess was very friendly and welcoming, and she got us seated promptly. We ordered what we thought was a bottle of rose to share, but it turns out we actually only ordered a single glass. Our mistake, really. We should have brushed up on French before our trip. The patio was lovely and we had a great view of the cathedral. I ordered the croque monsieur sandwich, and it came out in a timely manner. It was actually a lot of food and looked great. The inside was hit or miss however. It was unevenly heated and there were cold sections in the sandwich, which was kind of weird. The breakfast potatoes however were piping hot and delicious. Maybe my sandwich was a one off. the menu is large and varied so there should be something for everyone. If you're looking for a solid meal, especially before a tour, La Manufacture might just be the place!
