We stayed at L'Abondance for 5 nights in October 2015. I LOVED L'Abondance and Delphine (the owner). The setting and rooms were gorgeous, very clean and comfortable. The bed was comfortable (firm) and the shower had excellent water pressure (modern bathroom). Delphine made excellent food for our breakfasts each morning, she is quite the cook and very cordial. She does not speak very much English, but she tries. Luckily I was with a French speaker so that helped a lot. Each room has a placard with a picture of a cow on the door, all different. In the alps you will see so many different breeds of cattle, different from what we have in the US. I fell in love with Charolais cattle while in France so I loved that each room had it's own representative cow. The area around L'Abondance is beautiful, it was a joy to take a walk around each day. There is a quaint 2 block shopping area that has all you need and some very fine restaurants too. We were in the Pont du Fossé area in the Fall when the color of the leaves were changing making the beauty of the Alps was something to behold. I think of it often.
