March 27, 2022 We stopped by for an impromptu lunch on a Sunday afternoon. The wait was close to 20 minutes and we were seated in the outside seating area. While the inside looks nice the shacks outside are less than desirable. The tables around us were loud and eventhough the tables were in separate stalls there was little to no insulation from the noise and cold weather. Service took forever and they are not very attentive to the tables outside. The food on the other hand was good. We didn't order any ramen but the omurice and pork cutlet was decent. The fried appetizers were fresh and crispy. And the pork belly baos were good too. Overall I would definitely go to a different location if I want Kyuramen food again. read more

Really impressive - they recreated their indoor dining, wooden sets, bamboo coverings and slide doors, propane heaters, waiters all with masks, they bring you alcohol hand sanitizing wipes pre-meal. We started with the octopus balls and steamed pork bao buns. The octopus balls, were so crispy, the shredded fish you know is good when it starts curling because of the heat. The pork buns were soft, tender, so full of flavor. Tried the new their 3 new combo ramen bowls - it lets you try 2 different ramen flavors at once - because if you're like me, you always want more. Black garlic was very savory and strong, the spicy ramens included a tempura and a shrimp one, nothing better on a cool day, honestly I keep going back to the original tonkatsu. Nothing beats tender bamboo shoots, the egg, and slices of pork. I polished off 1.5 bowls (I eat a lot haha - but left overs reheated well with a little water). Came to Kyuramen because I saw a ton of pictures of their outdoor dining set up, which I feel, is definitely the prettiest by far. They seat you in these wooden dining booths with lamps and bamboo blinds that offer some privacy. I ordered the Tokyo Tonkotsu Shoyu with White Garlic ($13) and received a complimentary Matcha Pudding as a check-in perk. I was pleasantly surprised to see how many toppings were included in my bowl (pork chashu, bamboo shoots, wakame, nori, scallion, and a runny egg) but was extremely disappointed by the broth. It lacked real depth of flavor/cattiness expected from tonkotsu that is boiled for hours and hours. Also, the yolk of the runny egg was ice cold. I can't complain for the price, but I will say that I would rather pay more for a better bowl of ramen as I believe the broth is the backbone of a good bowl. Finally getting around to writing this review. Came here with a friend a few months ago and was excited to try out their ramen. We have walked by here multiple times and considered coming but didn't have a chance until now. We got Thai iced tea, I had the combo ramen (lets you try 2 of their ramen), the purple sweet potato fries, eel avocado rice burger and matcha pudding with red bean! The food all came out pretty quickly and everything was delicious. The ramen was rich but not too heavy. Going with the half version is good to try 2 different ramen and worked out since 1 side was spicy and the other side wasn't. The rice burger was probably our favorite and definitely very unique, as was the purple sweet potato. The matcha pudding was a great way to finish our meal! Service was good and the food was even better. Definitely make a reservation as they have limited huts and quite popular! The huts each have their own heaters - warm enough to endure 30 degrees but not enough to take off the jacket. We ordered the omurice which not only makes for great IG content but was delicious as well. We chose the Demi glaze but I want to the the curry next time. We had the black and white couple and curry chicken tonkatsu. We also had the combo which includes a pork bun and Thai milk tea. The pork was a bit on the fattier side. Keeping it real out here in Flushing Hands down one of the most memorable outdoor dining experience we had. The staff were extremely nice and patient with our orders. Went here for dinner with my fiancé last night. Before coming to the restaurant, we highly recommend making a reservation unlike us. We got to the restaurant and waited about 20~ minutes to be seated. While we were waiting outside in the cold, the hostess provided us with complimentary tea which was pretty awesome. After waiting, we were finally seated in a makeshift hut with a little heater next to our seats. Despite covid and cold conditions, the restaurant was able to create a safe, private, and intimate environment for our meal. Excellent service from the waiters and waitresses to the hostess. They answered the call button quickly and made sure that our waters were always full. I got the Tokyo Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen with white garlic and Kyle got the Tokyo Shoyu Ramen. We both loved our ramen. It wasn't too salty and the broth was rich and flavorful. It was perfect to have on a cold fall night. The pork bao buns were delicious; we wished that there was more sauce in the bao as we only got to taste the sauce at the bottom on the bao. The popcorn chicken were crispy and the chicken juicy. We're very glad that Kyuramen recently built an outdoor seating structure, as some of the restaurant's food is best experienced through onsite dining. The outdoor structure consists of several enclosed booths that can comfortably sit four people each on wood bench seating. The booth at the end has a larger capacity. There is a roof to protect against sun and rain, and a floor to shield customers from street debris and water runoff. The ramen here is as good as ever, if slightly too salty for regular visits. Two of the ramen dishes -- the Tokyo Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen and the Kyushu Tonkotsu Shio Ramen offer black garlic as an option. I highly recommend the black garlic -- for an additional dollar, it deliciously intensifies the garlic flavors in the broth. Service was slightly off in our last visit, in that they brought the wrong dishes and we had to inquire about an undelivered dish. Still, overall service was Very Good. All of the staff properly wore face masks. Our server was patient with us as we took video of an omurice (omelette rice) being opened. A wet napkin is provided at the end of the meal. The restaurant treats Yelp users well, with a complimentary Thai Iced Tea or Matcha Pudding for checking in. With well-made and nicely decorated outdoor seating, very good food and service, Kyuramen is one of the best choices in Downtown Flushing for ramen during the Covid-19 quarantine. read more

The outdoor dining booths they've created are roomy tables for four, and reflects a very fond Japanese atmosphere with all its decorations and set up. The staff was attentive, checking in often and clearing the tables quickly. I think they emphasize more on the experience of dining than the food itself. I might go back to try without covid restrictions for the dine-in experience, but the food didn't leave a notable impression that would demand a return. Everyone liked the Japanese Curry Ramen, Sapporo Miso Ramen, and Tokyo Shouyu Ramen that was ordered; I would say the noodles are most notable, but everything else is decent--not outstanding. This place has gained popularity for their Japanese omurice - quickly cooked egg omelette shaped and placed over rice before being cut open tableside. I came here with a friend on Sunday night and even at 7 or 8pm there's an hour wait. highly recommend calling ahead of time to make reservations. However, love their system where you can leave your number and when a table's ready you'll get a text, so you don't have to wait by the restaurant. We ordered okonomiyaki, omurice (came with seafood miso soup), and received a free matcha pudding dessert (with yelp check-in!). The okonomiyaki came out lukewarm/cool, and I was not too impressed with it. But the star of the show here is obviously the omurice - i ordered with the demi-glace and it was a great combo. The fried rice underneath was also pretty good and does well to soak up the omelette. Dessert was yummy, wasn't too sweet, and great way to end a meal. They won't give me the small miso soup provided with the meal while I waited for my entree.) - My mom's ramen got cold waiting for my omurice entree to appear (Just for them to tell me, after waiting with the ramen on the table, that the omurice will take while) . - I still can't find a warm beverage to drink besides their free tea (which is meh). - They didn't turn the heater on ( So, you are wearing your coat inside the structure!) In short, if you just want ramen and takoyaki this is a good spot. But, I wouldn't bring older company as it is cold and patience is nesscary. We were also impressed by how they packed the noodles and broth separately to keep the noodles chewy. I got Takoyaki, Okonomiyaki, Pork Belly Buns, Kimchi Ramen and Tom Yum ramen. Good: Takoyaki: it was nice and fluffy and creamy, the sauce was good, the octopus was also good. Okonomiyaki: It had Shrimp Tempura in it, it was a little too doughy for my taste. I've had better Okonomiyaki elsewhere, but it was still really good. The Pork Belly Buns: The pork was nice and tender and juicy, the sauce was fine. They could have been a little more generous with the pork. But it was still also very good. Bad: Kimchi Ramen: No Kimchi Flavor whatsoever, just very salty. I literally couldn't tell the difference between this and the Tom Yum. Tom Yum Ramen: No lemongrass flavor and not even spicy just salty. Tbh it didn't even taste any different from the Kimchi one. The place looks small from the outside but once you step in you'll realize that the place is actually spacious. The noodles are overdone, the broth is bland, the egg is just overcooked, etc. A friend of mine tried it and convinced me to give it a shot. Wow - so impressed. The interior is beautiful here. So clean and the service here is super attentive. They have a bunch of combo(s) but the ramen is so filling - try not to over order. Popcorn chicken - solid Taiwanese style. Shrimp Tempura was fine but I didn't love the almost thousand island sauce. Steam Pork Bao, the bun was fine but the pork was seasoned with a bit more five spice than I'd like. Ramen. I mean that's why you're here right? The Kyushu Tonkotsu was where it's at. The broth was rich but the real "wow" is from the black garlic oil. It's just so satisfying, especially during the cold weather. Now they do offer a spicy version but they also offer plenty of spice at the table if you want to turn up the heat on your own. The pork chasu was beautifully charred with a strip of fat, melty melty goodness. They also make the Omurice which is cool to see. It's sliced table side and you get to see the inside ooze out, this is common to see in Asia but not as much out here. It's pretty decent but quite filling. Super hyped up without reason. I have been here a few times because it is easy to travel to, but the ramen just is not that great. I have tried a few flavors but during my last visit I ordered the Curry Ramen and it just was not good. The soup base was as thick as gravy, and I feel as though they should provide more information about that because I did not want noodles in gravy I wanted soup lol.
