Some friends and I decided to stop by around 7pm on a Saturday to grab dinner - there were a decent number of tables available - both indoors and outdoors - and we opted to sit inside. The nicely-decorated booths were quite isolated, separated from other booths and the adjacent hallway with curtains + frames, and each 'room' was cosy, with plenty of space and even a basket for bags/other belongings. We started with a popcorn chicken to share - chicken was tender, juicy, and nicely-seasoned, albeit a little too salty for my taste. It is a little pricey for the portion size, but I'd say still mostly worth it, especially if sharing between a few people. For my main, I ordered the Kyushu tonkotsu ramen, and sadly I was a little disappointed with this order. I found the shio broth to not be very flavourful, and the meat to be a little dry. I've been here a handful of times before, and always found the ramen to be quite delicious, so this was definitely a bit of an unfortunate deviation from that. Regardless, the noodles themselves were nice - cooked to a good hardness - and I was generally pleased with the other toppings - corn, nori, egg, etc. A word of warning: one of my friends ordered the Kyushu spicy tonkotsu ramen at the mild spice level - she was flushed and nearly sweating after a few bites, so if your spicy tolerance isn't the strongest, you'd be better off staying away from the spicy broths. Anyway, while this visit wasn't the best overall, I do think that at this price point and my previous experiences, I'm definitely still a fan, and I hope to be back soon! read more

The ramen was pretty decent, but since this was a takeout order and they forgot one of the four ramen chashu proteins in my order, I had to drop a star. The tonkatsu and shouyu broth was flavorful and rich. The chashu was sliced thinly and was delicious. The usual nori, wakame, corn and bamboo shoots were delicious. I wish the portion sizes were larger The pork bao was everything it should be, succulent pork fat woven in between and sandwiched in with veggies and a light sauce. I've ordered from Kyuramen consistently throughout covid, but I finally dined here for the first time yesterday. They offer outdoor and indoor seating but we opted for a table indoor. Kyuramen has an extensive menu with various ramen options, and I went with the Tokyo Tonkatsu Shouyu with black garlic. The black garlic was an extra $1, but extremely worth it - broth was SO MUCH more fragrant and tasty compared to the white garlic broth. A must try is the Takoyaki (octopus balls)! I order this every time and it's never let me down. The omurice is one of their most popular items. The waiter brings the dish and slits the eggs, and then pours the sauce over. Unfortunately the omurice was a bit disappointing, very mediocre. Overall a solid ramen spot. They have many options to choose from off their menu and prices are fair. This is still one of the best ramen spots in Flushing. We came here since the grand opening a few years back and they've kept their service up to par for the most part. I did notice their prices rising steadily. The ramen soups and popcorn chicken combo is perfect for a two-person meal when we want to stop by to satiate our cravings. Popcorn chicken always comes out warm and crispy, and sometimes i'll add the little condiments that they give. As someone who loves spicy food and finds it hard to decide on just one flavor, I love their "Spicy Couple" ramen, which includes a split ramen bowl with two different spicy ramen broths! One of the spicy ramen broths reminded me of the Szechuan ma-la flavor, which I thought was interesting but it was delicious nonetheless. I've had their matcha pudding with red bean and cherry blossom teardrop jelly, which are both nice and fun to eat. I've come here multiple times and don't have any complaints with their service. The interior is clean and well decorated, and they emphasize cleanliness in their service with hand sanitizer and moist towelettes. Highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend if you're in the mood for a Ramen fix. We made reservations through Yelp but they sat us down right away because it wasn't too packed. Luckily we got first floor seating which are 'private' booths closed by a curtain. I absolutely loved it. To start, we got the popcorn chicken 10/10 and the Gyoza dumplings 9/10. Honestly the popcorn chicken was just that good, so flavorful and crunchy. The ramen was also so flavorful, you can pick your own noodles, I have no other words to describe it, but if you enjoy ramen I promise you will like it. The service was great, there is a button inside the booth if you need to call a server but they were very attentive and always checked in on us. Great ambiance too! The food was just okay in my opinion - nothing made it stand out. And honestly, even though we got 3 different ramens, all of them looked & tasted exactly the same. The popcorn chicken was a little dry but edible, & the okonomiyaki was decent. The ramen was okay - the amount of kelp in the dish was a bit overwhelming. The broth also wasn't super flavorful, and definitely benefitted from a healthy scoop of the togarashi that was availble at the end of the table. Also, service was mediocre at best. The waiter who was taking our order was impatient, and looked and sounded like he hated his job. A friend asked what the difference between white and black garlic was, and he looked annoyed at the question. It was a genuine question! We weren't given an answer. The drink in my opinion is what saved the combo "experience" as it was a sweet and delicious thai tea. For the ramen, it leaned more towards a curry than a ramen tho, as it was a pretty thick broth. The taste did not disappoint however. It was a creamy, savoury taste of japanese curry along with the balanced saltiness of the broth. The chicken was tasty and crispy and pairs well with the curry ramen. My only downside was I wish it was more "soupier" like regular ramen. This is my second time coming to KYURAMEN but man, oh man, it won't be my last! I had the indoor dining experience this time (half vaccinated, woohoo!), but even the experience I had in their temporary outdoor set up was wonderful! Everything was so well kept and presentable upon first impression, but the inside is just as lovely!! The dining area is on the second floor, while the open kitchen is on the first! There weren't as many people when my friend and I decided to go, so we had a nice big table to ourselves! My stomach was a little upset over a stupid late night snack decision, so I had their okonomiyaki (for the first time!!). They have such a wide selection of ramen that it was so hard to choose from! I tried the half and half white/black garlic ramen. Black garlic was definitely very strong in taste but it was a great balance to the lighter white garlic. A great combo to get and they give you meat in both sides! The ramen burger was a bit hard to eat. The chicken itself was great but the ramen "bun" left a mess and didn't have much taste. We will be coming back to try the other items in the menu soon! I was feeling ramen on a freezing day so we order 2 ramen bowls to go. Their #1 Tokyo Shoyo tonkatsu and their #2 Kyushu Tonkatsu Shio taste very similar and I couldn't tell the difference between the two. We added black garlic in ours, which gave it a stronger flavor profile. The takoyaki octopus balls reminded me of the ones we had in Japan. And we ended the night with matcha pudding. I have seen this place all over social media and have been waiting for the perfect time to go all the way to Queens to try it. I highly recommend making a reservation on the Yelp website prior to going since I went on a Saturday night and it was pretty busy and a fairly long wait if you just did walk in. They have both outdoor and indoor seating and all the outdoor seating was in your own booth with a heating lamp inside so I felt very safe. The service was great and all the staff was extremely friendly. They have a variety of different options here so I definitely think that you would be able to find something that you like on the menu. They also had sets which included ramen/drinks/appetizers/dessert depending on which set you decided to get. We went with one set which included Tokyo Tonkotsu Shouyu Ramen, one pork bun and a green tea pudding dessert and we also ordered the Sapporo Miso Ramen. The broth flavor was amazing - definitely one of the best flavors that I had in New York. I definitely liked the Tokyo tonkotsu Shouyu ramen better but the Sapporo Miso was not bad as well. The noodles were delicious and perfectly cooked. The pork bun was super tasty as well and I highly recommend ordering that as well. The flavors were just unbeatable. The green tea pudding was very interesting, very thick and interesting texture (not a huge fan but it was not bad either). I'm a big fan of ramen, so every time I get an opportunity to visit a Ramen shop, I'm there. I stopped over for lunch and this place definitely hit the spot! What makes this place unique from other Ramen shop is that you can order combo bowls. Today I got to try their version of Tonkotsu Shouyu and a new one for me Korean Kimchi. The latter one was an excellent surprise, I know the thought of Kimchi in ramen seems a little surprising, but the broth of light and spicy, the sourness traditionally associated with Kimchi is very mild. Always wanted to try this place out. Came on a Sunday afternoon and was seated inside. The decor is very modern and minimal. We were seated and service was pretty attentive. If I want a good bowl of ramen in flushing, I always head over to kyuramen! They have a good number of options and are always consistent with their flavor and taste. Their spicy tonkatsu ramen is rich but not too heavy, the torched cha-shu pieces are so tender and flavorful while the noodles have a good bite to it and grabs onto the flavor of the soup. You can customize it by adding more ingredients or taking on the ones you don't want. I also tried the black garlic shoyu ramen and the black garlic definitely adds another level of flavor but even without it's still delicious. They have a wide selection of appetizers as well and my favorite would have to the the takoyaki! It's a bit crispy on the outside but creamy on the inside wirj nice chunks of octopus. Lastly for drinks they have both alcoholic and non alcoholic. I usually get the Thai iced tea which is refreshing and yummy but not too sweet. They have a selection of drinks including sake. The sake comes with cups that are warmed and have a small flower design on the bottom. When you poor the sake in the design changes color which is so fun!! The staff is kind and helpful and it's usually pretty easy to make a reservation here. I also love that they have outdoor seating so that I can bring my dog, there's very few places in flushing that has that. They even gave my dog a bowl of water as well. Seating is fantastic. That is the first memorable thing about this restaurant that I loved. I can only attest to the private booths where it can sit up to 6 with clothed drapings covering the entrance. It gives off the feel of privacy but also very chill vibes. Service was great. Cordial. The food was also great. Steamed Pork Bao Buns - Great texture on the buns and the tenderness of the pork belly...I should have ordered a second order of this. Takoyaki - I judge this heavily due to in part of actually having visited Japan. But these were pretty...pretty good as a guy named Larry might say. Kyushu Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen - The flavors was deep but not heavy. The noodles really made everything harmonious. Spicy level was mild for me but if you have a lower tolerance it could be something to be careful of. I even added more spices/spiciness. Haha.
