The absolute BEST CAKE EVER! Last week my family had a birthday brunch to celebrate my Dad's 95th birthday! I do not live in the Lehigh Valley anymore. I went to yelp and found Kym and her excellent reviews. I wanted something special for this big occasion. Kym's Tandy Cake cake was perfect since this Tastycake treat has been my Dad's favorite snack for 60 years. I had high hopes. I just wanted a small BMW themed cake. I placed my order about a month ago and picked it up on 4/30. Glancing at it when I picked it up I saw that she didn't create the logo or the other decor. She just used print outs and stuck it to fondant. When I got home and looked at it further I saw major imperfections. Piping was sloppy. The happy birthday looks like a kid wrote it. I convinced myself that it's just a small cake and I only spent $62 on it so as long as it tastes good it'll be ok I guess. We'll it didn't even taste great. The cake was thick and dense. The canoli filling was the best part about the whole cake and that was just ok. I could have done a better job myself but hey, you live and you learn. Would give zero stars because it is a business making cakes that doesn't make cakes. They may make great desserts but obviously need help learning how to run a functional business if they want to stay in business. Giving one star instead of zero because I am forced to and at least they finally contacted me back (after several days and attempted calls/emails) to say they don't have time and wouldn't even have a conversation about gluten free options - just said no. I requested a vanilla caramel swirl mermaid cake with Kahlua filling and white chocolate icing. It was A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!!!! Our guests kept going back for more. I agree with the Vanessa W. Kym shows a tremendous amount of enthusiasm for her business and loads of creativity for her flavors. We liked the "cake" part however, the icing wasn't that great and it was obvious to our palates (used to mostly organic food) that something tasted off. She confirmed that she uses 2 parts Crisco to 1 part butter in the icing (not sure about the cake). Crisco? I thought that went out with the Cleavers but Kym Creations has a strong following so perhaps loads of ppl out there like the taste of hydrogenated oils. Not us! Without a doubt her cake decorating could use some refinement. I would recommend she take some time to organize her sample book and pare down flavors for tastings - we were overwhelmed with the bursting photo album that jumped back and forth between weddings and birthdays. She sounds like she has a huge following in the last nine years so I doubt my, and Vanessa W.'s, reviews will make much difference in her business. read more

I have ordered 2 cakes with Kym and had a great experience both times. Last yr I got my daughters first bday cake and this yr her second bday cake. After setting an appt we meet with Kym to discuss theme and ideas. She offered us a cake tasting like last time to pick the many flavors that she offers. We decided on a Doc Mcstuffins two tier cake with one tier as with strawberry swirl and the other tier as vanilla with chocolate filling. The price was very reasonable and was exactly what I expected for a two tier cake. I was very anxious when I arrived to pick up cake and was so happy when I saw what Kym was able to do. I will have to respectfully disagree with the other reviewer. Kym's popped up quite frequently when I was at bridal shows looking for a cake place for my wedding. Her cakes were consistently okay, regardless of the flavor or the icing. They looked decent (think a step or two above your local grocery store) but that's about all. If you're looking for a good cake I would highly recommend Village Bake Shop. My guests were literally fighting over it at the wedding. read more

Knowing that most people only write a review when they're displeased about something, I decided I must write a review for Kyms Creations Cakes. I want people to read an honest review not based on negative opinions. While some people are never happy, I'm shocked to see the bad reviews here. Everything with Kim went great right from the start. I met with her to create a one of a kind cake for my daughter's first birthday. I'm a pretty creative person and can be quite nitpicky about style, colors, etc. The theme was circus, but vintage circus not your run of the mill standard circus. Kim got it right away and knew exactly what I wanted and didn't want. Since my husband couldn't make the meeting, she sent me home with loads of cakes, fillings and icings to sample at home. They were all delicious. Anyone that bakes at home also knows if you want your buttercream to be white, not yellow, you don't use butter...you use shortening. I couldn't taste any shortening but it was pure white and absolutely delicious. Not overly sweet - no confectioner sugar aftertaste - and very light and fluffy. The cakes were all spectacular and had rich flavors without being too much. I ended up choosing 4 flavors - red velvet bottom, black bottom, vanilla Oreo and vanilla toffee crunch - plus two fillings - milk chocolate ganache and cream cheese with chocolate chips- and everyone at the party was crazy for the cake. People were talking about the flavors and deliciousness for literally an hour. That was after they stopping oohing and ahhing and taking photos of the cake itself. Kim made me the perfect vintage circus cake - muted colors, gold accents, images of actual vintage circus clowns, elephants, etc. She even topped the cake with a carousel - it was truly amazing. It was slightly different then what we originally sooke about but I didn't mind at all. In fact I told her that I trusted she knew what I wanted and sure enough she was spot on. The smash cake for my daughter was even delicious and made with the same amount of care even though it was just for smashing. The banana cake we chose was like a dense moist banana bread and it was so tasty my daughter loved it. The taste made me want more! If you are considering Kyms Creations I suggest you meet with her and try her cakes to form your own opinions. These negative reviews are either false, exaggerated or possibly just outdated and from a time early in Kims career. I look forward to using Kim again in the future and can't say enough about her business. Oh, and she's a nice person, too. I found Kym through a coworker that was raving about her cakes and cupcakes and decided to order my gender reveal cake from her. The cake was absolutely delicious!!!! Beautiful and moist. I decided to order my baby shower cake, cake pops, cookies and cupcakes and again she did not disappoint. Everything was beautiful, and delicious! She did exactly what I wanted and everyone at my baby shower have asked me about the cake and treats. I just ordered a tiramisu cake for my husband's B-Day and I have to say this is the best tiramisu cake I have ever had! Tiramisu is a fairly hard cake to make because if you add to much liquor it overwhelms the flavor of the cake. My husband loves tiramisu and is extremely critical. We have had all different types of tiramisu cakes including 5 star bakeries in NYC/celebrity made and I don't remember any of them tasting as good as this one! I checked out several local bakeries before ordering a cake for my daughter's college graduation luncheon. I chose Kym's Creations after seeing a photo of a graduation cake on her website. Communicating with Kym was very easy after she gave me her personal cell and we were able to text. When we arrived at the restaurant the cake was already there and it was spectacular - more beautiful than the one on the website! It was also delicious! I was quite disappointed in what I recieved from her. We ordered biscotti and it was burnt, where we could manage not to get a burnt piece I will say it was delicious. Cheese danish with some cherry, she added almonds and I can't stand for almonds I was not informed that there was going to be nuts on it. The danish was acutally burnt a bit on the bottom also. The lemon meringue pie we got was soupy. We couldn't even cut it with out it running all over the plate and scooping it out with a spoon. It was also quite tart. Defiantly made me pucker up! We also got a variety of cupcakes, which I thought was quite awesome that you can just pick and choose many flavors. Unfortuanatly, they were entirely way to sweet and the flavors just seem very artifical. I actually enjoy buttercream icing but this was way past that on the sweetness level. I am very impressed by Kyms products. As for the other reviews I have to disagree it seems as it is their personal pickyness... I have tried many items from Kyms. The first thing I tried was a cupcake from B104s Labor day event which then had a coupon for a free cake for when my baby was born. I called and ordered the cake i got marble with vanilla icing the decor was beautiful. very up to date. the cake was very moist and the icing was soft and sweet-light. delicious. I then had some baked goods that she donated to a event for a carnival everyone raved about the cupcakes. we had some snickerdoodle cookies. everything she makes is homemade and TLC is put into her work. we will be doing business with Kym. read more
