On October 8, 2026, I called the office to speak with someone regarding a claim my father had…read morerecently filed. My father informed me that he had spoken with someone in the office who advised him that someone would be contacting him with additional questions about his claim. Due to my father's speech disorder, he was concerned that the person calling might have difficulty understanding him. For this reason, I contacted the office to explain the situation and ask whether I could serve as his point of contact (POC) if assistance was needed. The individual who answered my call, Doug Boggs, responded by stating that my father had handled multiple claims on his own in the past and would be fine handling this one. I corrected him and explained that I had actually handled those previous claims on my father's behalf. Mr. Boggs then stated that he was not my father's agent and that he might be able to make a note regarding my request. I asked whether he could please make that note. Fortunately, a woman in the background kindly intervened and took my name and phone number. Before ending the call, I expressed to Mr. Boggs that there was no need for him to be rude. He could have simply acknowledged my concerns, confirmed the status of the claim if possible, and explained that my father's assigned agent would be contacting him. Instead, his tone was dismissive and unprofessional, and he made no meaningful effort to assist me with my inquiry. My intention in calling was simply to help my father navigate the claims process and ensure that communication regarding his claim would be handled effectively, given his speech disorder. I was not asking Mr. Boggs to handle the claim himself; I was requesting that my contact information be documented so I could assist if necessary. I understand that Mr. Boggs may not have been the agent assigned to my father's claim. However, I believe that basic courtesy, professionalism, and a willingness to provide appropriate guidance should be expected when assisting customers and their family members.
