Oh My. You are on the road, need gas, no time to stop at a restaurant, and you decide to go inside the store and find something to eat. Well, at this particular Kwik Trip in Richland Center, the employees are not particularly eager to keep the hot sandwich rack stocked with food. The hamburgers are gone, no pizza slices, nothing that other Kwik Trips usually stock has been made, especially anything labeled "Special!", that is empty. Well, maybe I'll risk the $1.59 corn dog, that seemed to be a safe bet as a kid at the county fair. Out in the car, that first expectant bite, and oh no, doggie chew toy! How many days has this rubbery dried out thing be under the heat lamp? What is the bacterial count on the end sticking out of the wrapper? I felt like I was re-watching the episode of the Simpsons when Homer attempts to eat a hot dog that has been on the roller grill for several months. Not all Kwik Trips are horrid. At least at the one in Sauk City they actually put out new food once in a while and try to keep things stocked. But the one in Richland Center, well, I guess customers are just a nuisance and they could not be bothered with such mundane tasks as actually going into the kitchen more than once a day to make a few sandwiches. I think the Corporate headquarters of KT should send a spy and investigate this one. Or give me my $1.59 back. read more
