Kupsch is a supermarket chain that has around 20 branches in Lower Franconia and the surrounding areas. The retailer Bernhard Kupsch laid the foundation stone for the chain in 1914 with the opening of three stores in Würzburg.
With 10 branches in Würzburg alone, it is the predominant supermarket chain there and stands out from many discounters with a full range of high-quality food products. Almost all branches have their own butcher, a bakery counter, a wide range of newspapers and magazines, sell fresh flowers and offer an extensive selection of Franconian wines.
We stopped by here to grab a bite (photo; tasty and very reasonably-priced) during our visit to Würzburg. The location is very convenient on Domstrasse being very close to the historical Alte Mainbrücke. The sweets in the display case were very tempting also.
We sat on a bench along the Main River looking at the Festung Marienberg and Alte Mainbrücke to enjoy our quick bite on a warm spring-like afternoon...this is life. read more
