I was among a group of expat ladies, who had been to the gallery in a guided tour and came to have lunch after our tour. It was rather breezy and chilly outside, yet the door to the terrace was open. We asked to have it closed. A cheeky waitress insisted it absolutely must be open for them to serve patrons outdoors. Both of them. We moved as far from the door as possible, put two tables together and huddled under our overcoats. More than once, someone else closed the door or it closed on its own and we were scolded by this female that this was "fresh air and good for us" as she went to re-open it with a scowl. It is clear that she wanted the door open for her own comfort, as she was bustling about in her job.
We ordered a number of dishes. I asked for quiche, and I can hardly remember the taste, as it was too uncomfortable to enjoy anything. After we finished our meals, some Dutch patrons by the offending door closed it. When this waitress attempted to open it, they scolded her and for them, she left it shut!
To be fair, the other waitstaff at the cafe were far more friendly and professional. In past, I have enjoyed meals and service at this cafe. Be assured I will avoid this person like the plague should I return. read more
