The acoustic is great, the hall was constructed for an impeccable music experience. Even if you get bad seats you can hear every detail (as long as the artist plays precisely haha). The Tonhalle Orchestra is one of the very great orchestras. David Zinman, the conductor, is practically a legend and really knows what he is doing. This is kind of my home away from home - ithis place has kind of a comfortable and melancholic feel. I could stare at the ceiling for hours :) If you are in zurich an are interested in classical music, i highly recommend a visit at tonhalle zurich.

Over the years they have had guest 'desks', including the late Rostoprovitch (who I met first) and Yoyo Ma. There are many others. In recent years the Tonhalle has toured America and Japan, as well as it's normal tours of Europe. Two years ago, they played at the Royal Albert Hall also.
