My most casual laid back outfit today is better than my best outfit was before I met Melynda. I really didn't know what to expect. I just knew that I never really had a sense of style and I had one too many days or moments of poor wardrobe choices/outfits. Melynda has a great eye for design/style in all facets of it. She knows when something is made the right way with quality fabric, stitching, etc. She walks into a store and finds the most unique items. She will teach you along the way what works, what doesn't work, why, and how things are supposed to fit. I had the fit all wrong before Melynda. It was pure chance/luck that I purchased and wore an item that fit properly or landed an outfit that actually looked good/cool. It happened, but not often. We completely transformed my wardrobe, me, and my confidence. She starts with going through your closet. We got rid of so much stuff. There's lots of shopping sessions. Then you hit the tailor. Lots of tailoring. My new view on fashion is, you find the right item(s) and most of the time you go to the tailor. Why would we not...it's not like designers are making clothes for my exact body... After that she comes by and makes a style guide. She lays everything out and shows you what a capsule wardrobe looks like. With everything we bought I have nearly as many outfit options as you have chess moves in a game. Melynda is the real deal all around. She is an experience stylist. She owns a vintage & modern clothing shop in DTLA. She has styled for stars in music videos and movies as well as non-celebrity folks like myself. She designs her own items. She makes bespoke suits. That kind of generosity set the tone for the entire experience. Her Burbank studio is clean, bright, and filled with natural light, and that's exactly the kind of space you want for color work. The session ran about 70 min and was more thorough than I anticipated. There's the standard draping, but Esther also looked through my actual makeup products, scrolled my Instagram, and reviewed my wardrobe to figure out what was and wasn't working for me. We went through slides of makeup recs and I got to try products in real life too. I came in thinking I was a Mute Autumn (I used AI...). Working with Kallah has been the bargain of my life, I'm serious -- in a very positive way, she has altered the way people perceive me; she has altered the way I feel about myself. She has saved me a bundle by hooking me up with the clothes that work best for the unique "look" she and I created for me - this, as opposed to my usual habit of blowing money on mis-matched styles and wasteful bargains, has been a huge money saver. Another money saver has been Kallah's rejuvenation of my existing wardrobe (the stuff that wasn't hideous.) She went through my closet and then set-out to find the best new clothes/accessories that would add style and energy to my current stuff. Shirts that I felt *blah* about now seem new and cool again when worn with Kallah's suggestions. This woman just knows how to make it work! Here's some of the process behind her magic: 1. She asks me to email ideas about the styles I like. 2. We meet in person and she interviews me. She asks more questions about my favorite styles, varying needs for clothing (work, social, etc.), music tastes and even about my favorite type of coffee (you'll discover why when you work with her :) 3. She shows me a bunch of photos from various fashion books and magazines that she has bookmarked based on my email; we begin creating a new personal look. 4. She pre-shops for me. 5. Three days later we hit the stores. Upon arrival at each store, clothes are already hanging in the dressing room -- I feel like a rock star. 99% of what Kallah has chosen is BADASS and within my budget. 99% is stuff I'd never find by myself. I knew it was time to upgrade my look when my dad started giving me a hard time about my clothes. I ended up going with the closet audit (going through all my current clothes) and then a full day of shopping. I knew the closet audit was going to be rough as I still have clothes from over 15 years ago. Needless to say I ended up donating a majority of my clothes (2 boxes and 6 trash bags worth!). We actually had to hang on to some extra clothes just so I'd have something to wear until we had a chance to go shopping. The shopping experience was unlike anything I've ever experienced and I have no idea how I'm going to shop any other way from here on out. We went to some really cool stores that I would have never found on my own and each one we went to already had a bunch of clothes all ready for me to try on. I'd just jump right into the dressing room trying each one on. Perhaps the biggest surprise to me was that 90% of the clothes Kallah had set aside, fit perfectly. This is in contrast to my 10-15% success rate when shopping alone. I also noticed that Kallah had picked out a bunch of clothes that I would have passed by without giving a second thought when shopping alone. However, when actually trying these clothes on they looked great! I did this as a surprise to my wife and the look on her face when I met her for dinner in one of my new outfits was worth it alone. Her jaw literally dropped and she loved my new clothes so much that by the end of the night she had claimed my new jacket and wore it more that night than I did. If you decide to hire Kallah, I have a couple suggestions: 1. Don't try to do too much in one day - If you aren't big into shopping (like I'm not), make sure to split your shopping trips across multiple days. Kallah had offered to split my 8 hours into two 4 hour chunks and I found this to be perfect for me. 2. Trust Kallah - I had the mindset to trust Kallah and let her push my comfort zone a bit and I'm really glad I did. There were a couple of pieces that I wasn't so sure of when trying on, but that Kallah really liked. I ended up purchasing these and can't even count the number of compliments I've been getting. For anyone looking to upgrade their look, have their better half look at them a whole new way, or impress that chic at work, I highly recommend Kallah!
