My guinea pig was prescribed medication based on a suspected diagnosis, but no X-rays or other diagnostic testing were recommended or performed to confirm what was causing his symptoms. I left feeling uncertain about the diagnosis and worried that we still didn't know what was really wrong. One of my biggest concerns is that I specifically told the staff that my guinea pig wasn't eating. Not one doctor or staff member explained how serious that can be in guinea pigs or gave me instructions on what I should do if he continued refusing food. I wasn't advised about supportive feeding, emergency warning signs, or how quickly guinea pigs can decline when they stop eating. If I hadn't searched online and educated myself, he likely would have declined even faster. It's heartbreaking to think that I had to rely on the internet for basic guidance instead of receiving it from the veterinary team caring for him. Unfortunately, despite following the treatment plan, my guinea pig passed away. I understand that not every pet can be saved, and I know veterinary medicine cannot guarantee an outcome. However, I can't help but wonder whether a more thorough examination, additional diagnostics, or clearer guidance could have made a difference. Now I'm grieving the loss of my baby right before a holiday. Losing him has been devastating, and I truly hope this clinic takes small-animal cases more seriously. Then Bell's palsy. Then we were told it was "most likely a brain tumor" and to start comfort measures because there was basically nothing else to do. We got a second opinion in Hattiesburg, and within minutes they identified that she had a severe ear infection and uncontrolled hypothyroidism -- both treatable conditions. A vet student practically figured it out immediately, which makes it even more concerning that this clinic completely missed it after multiple visits. Looking back, I should have trusted my gut and stopped going there then. Unfortunately, we continued using this clinic for thyroid monitoring and medication refills. Every visit felt like paying over and over again just for another T4 check, often without even properly evaluating my dog. Today was the final straw. When I called to ask why he didn't want to adjust her medication, he initially acted as though he wasn't even the prescribing vet. Once corrected, he became defensive and stated he "didn't like my attitude" because I questioned his decision-making. Apparently asking questions and advocating for your pet is a problem there. I work in healthcare myself, so I understand medicine is not perfect. But missing a common, treatable condition while telling owners to prepare their dog for death is unacceptable. The lack of accountability, poor communication, and dismissive behavior we experienced was beyond disappointing. Please advocate for your pets and get a second opinion if something feels wrong.

They cared for my geriatric German Shepard in the most caring and knowledgeable way. Dr Moore suggested treatments such as acupuncture and laser therapy that no one else had ever mentioned. She was upfront with us that although we shouldn't expect miracles, it would bring our little girl added comfort, which in her last days was all we could ask for. When it came time to say goodbye, Dr Harris did everything she possibly could to save her, and showed a great deal of sympathy and compassion when we lost her. The team, with Bethany up front, went out of their way to provide those last mementos that mean so much. It may be a little while before we get a new pup, but when we do, I will only take therm to Meridian Animal Care Center.
