Nice people working in there. Unfortunately I got the most uneven haircut I've ever had! They also…read morecut my neck in multiple places. I usually cut my own hair but my brothers wedding is this weekend so I wanted a professional haircut. I would've been better off doing it myself. Plus $50 for a fade and a beard trim?? That's a ripoff if you ask me. He never even cut my hair. Will definitely not be returning.

When it comes to the craft and art of cutting hair, clippers or scissors, the folks behind the chairs are talented. You want a fresh cut or beard trim by the some of the best? Stop in, you won't regret it. (Many of the the Iowa Hawkeyes athletes get their haircuts for the games here!) Look, I'll be honest, I read some of the other reviews and I have never seen any unprofessionalism or racial slurs ever in my time at The Lounge. I'm in there once or twice a month depending on what I have going on for the last three years, and I've never felt uncomfortable. Do they laugh, crack jokes, and banter a bit between each other? Yup! Do they talk about how the Celtics and Jason Tatum should have won last year's NBA Finals over the Warriors? Yup! But it's never anything that is rude or unprofessional. Literally kids are in there all the time with their parents getting fades for the school year if that means anything. The chairs are comfy, the music is good, and you can rest assured that you'll come out looking fly. Immaculate vibes. I've already recommended one buddy to stop going to chain places and come here, and he's never looked back. Do you want to risk a bad haircut? I don't!

I live in Chicago, and made the decision to find a new hair person. I decided I could get my hair cut for cheap while visiting my hometown. I'm accustomed to paying $60-$80 plus tip for a cut in Chicago. I need a wash and go cut that accomodates my natural curls and greying, thinning hair. I have no plans to use any hair styling products or treatments. I get a lot of flack from some stylists, but not for long because I don't have to listen to that. My sister and I got done thrift shopping a little early, so we tried to find a hair salon that might work. But it was a Monday, so absolutely everybody was closed. Bummer. We checked Yelp and found Chics N Guys, noting it's right next door to a resale shop. We went there, it was open, and the window had a painted sign that said, "Walkins welcome." Yay! I walked in. No one was waiting. The place didn't smell like chemical treatments, and that's really important because I'm sensitive to that and always end up feeling ill after going to a salon. I didn't get sick this time. The person there was I assume the owner/operator. She was wearing jeans and her hair was styled in a grey ponytail. I think I found my new hair place. I told her what I wanted. She made some good suggestions. She cut my hair like she knew what she was doing. She asked if I wanted her to dry it, and I was happy to refuse. That almost never happens. I usually have to run home to wash out the mousse and the spray so I don't get skin reactions. I didn't have to do that this time. I paid her the $20 fee plus $5 tip and walked out thrilled. My hair dried naturally and still looks cute when I let it dry naturally a week later. I got exactly what I wanted and nothing I didn't for a fraction of the usual price. What more do you want?
