I've run into Kracher's wine again, this time at Naschmarkt Austrian Restaraurant in Campbell, CA. This time it was the '09 Kracher Cuvée Auslese. Not as rich as the Beerenauslese but still quite tasty. Went very well with the Salzburger Nockerl they had for dessert. While traveling through Austria i was on my final stop in Illmitz, Austria before returning to the united States, I stopped into Kracher winery. It was absolutely fantastic! My wife and I were truly impressed with the hospitality of Andrea, the office manager who served us, as well as the vast selection of wines available for tasting. I can safely say this was my best wine tasting experience ever, among my global travels. We sampled 18 complementary wines, and had a basket of bread with a large crock of blue cheese and speads. It was a 2 1/2 hour experience and put NAPA to shame. Andrea even called her friend at the local restaurant to make dinner reservations which was walking distance from the winery. It is well worth a 30 minute side trip outside of Vienna. Spent the night in Illmitz and flow back the next morning. Great fun. I highly recommend it to anyone flying out from Vienna. read more
