I started realizing how watered down Toronto Indian food can be. I'm used to my mom cooking some of the best Indian food you will taste. But as she ages it's hard for her to stand in the kitchen, chop onions, ginger, garlic and green chilis before she even starts the frying. I met the owner of this place and she is a delightful older Indian woman, who owns a few buildings side by side on the little strip. She has obviously worked hard for years to be able to provide for herself, family and friends, and in so many ways she reminded me of my mom. My partner and I sat outside on the cobblestone strip as we ate our amazing food and drank a bottle wine for a price that was 1/4 of what we're used to paying.
