Our guide brought us to eat here along the way to Pergamon. I saw other huge tour buses go to a big restaurant along the main road but I am so glad we came here instead. As soon as we walked up and I saw the chef, I could just tell she makes great food. It was clear she takes pride in her work because she cooked with a smile on her face and her work area was spotless. I'm not Turkish but the food tasted like what I imagine home-cooked food in Turkey to be- delicious, simple, and filling. We've had peppers and eggplant at all the restaurants here but this one just tasted extra special. It was so delicious we asked for a second plate. The meatballs were also extra good, as was her roasted?? rice. Particularly surprising were the beans as I don't usually care for beans. Everything just tasted so flavorful. Our guide told us a lot of locals go there for lunch during their workday so there is fast turnover, which means the food is always fresh. It's is a simple place where you just walk up, she tells you what she has available, which she then she prepares for you and her son serves the food. I asked her to come home with me to CA but her son was pretty firm about not allowing me to kidnap his mom. read more
