My Experience with Dr. Lindsey at Koerich Orthodontics
I regret to share that my experience under the care of Dr. Lindsey at Koerich Orthodontics has been deeply distressing and life-altering in a way I could never have anticipated.
I initially sought treatment to correct a mild overbite and slightly misaligned lower teeth. During my consultation, Dr. Lindsey recommended extracting two healthy teeth as part of the treatment plan. I had serious reservations and expressed them multiple times, hoping for a thorough discussion about the long-term implications of this decision. Unfortunately, I was not informed of the potential risks, nor was I provided with a balanced explanation of the pros and cons. I trusted her professional judgment, but that trust was ultimately misplaced.
As treatment progressed, I began noticing dramatic and concerning changes in my appearance--my facial structure altered noticeably, and I developed a pronounced lisp. Family and friends commented on the changes, and I raised these concerns with Dr. Lindsey. Her response was dismissive, attributing the changes to natural aging. No acknowledgment was made of the possible impact of the extractions or the orthodontic approach.
After seeking second and third opinions, I learned that the retraction of my front teeth following the extractions likely caused the facial flattening and aesthetic deterioration--commonly referred to as "extraction face", or "flat face." The emotional toll this took on me was enormous. I no longer recognized myself, and the trauma of losing my smile led me to postpone my wedding. I no longer enjoy being photographed and struggle with self-esteem daily.
This experience, in my view, is the result of both negligence and incompetence. As a patient, I was not given the information I needed to make an informed decision about a permanent procedure. My concerns were downplayed, and my appearance suffered significantly as a result.
Despite attempts to work with Dr. Lindsey to reverse the damage, she never acknowledged her role or offered an apology. I could no longer trust her care or judgment. I also experienced significant difficulty receiving a partial refund, which was only offered under the condition that I sign a liability release preventing me from sharing my experience publicly. (I have not signed). I found this both unethical and unacceptable.
While the staff at the front desk and the orthodontic assistants were always courteous and professional, my review focuses solely on Dr. Lindsey's approach to patient care--specifically, the lack of informed consent, professional negligence, and failure to demonstrate accountability.
I'm sharing my story so others can make fully informed decisions about their care. Orthodontic treatment is not just about aesthetics; it can have lasting impacts on one's confidence, mental health, and quality of life. Please seek multiple opinions, ask questions, and do your own research before agreeing to any irreversible procedures like extractions. read more
