As the name already indicates it is the Oper Tower and it is exactly opposite to the Alte Oper. It is going to be a shopping and office paradise. I am looking forward to it. I walk everyday past it and i must admit they progress quite well. As far as I am informed it must be ready until the end of 2009 I hope the finance crisis is not going to bother them, but we'll have to wait and see. As already noticed it looks good. The 3D photos I have seen of the project talk for a simple and clean design and yet extraordinary. cheers

Just grab some stuff from the grocery store before you go and don't forget champagne and plastic cups which makes anyplace special. If you have walked here or taken the nerobergbahn, you will see a few taxis to take to the bottom of the mountain or ask the restaurant to call a taxi for you. Better yet, do as I did and walk to the bottom - it didn't take long at all and the area real estate is nice to see.

While perusing the town, we treated ourselves to a hot gluhwein. The vendors were super friendly and even a person who was also enjoying the beverage chimed in on the conversation. Fun! When you pay, you also give a deposit for the cup. Each year offers a new mug, so I learned that people like to collect them. There were many tables to stand and people watch. Great place to enjoy the town!

A word to the wise: This is the perfect place to acclimate to Europe if you arrive to Frankfurt!…read more Hauptwache is located in the center of the city and could kinda be referred to as an "outdoor shopping mall", but it is so much more than that. Besides being one of my favorite childhood hangouts (after landing at FRA), it is a fun place to shop, eat and explore. Recently, they put in a new "indoor" mall. The shops are whatevs, but the architecture is amazing. If you're lucky; there will be a wine festival when you arrive! And then you can mingle with local professionals, wine-lovers and travelers alike. This little area seems to be what US Malls are trying to emulate with their local live/shop plans, but nothing will ever be as cool as the juxtaposition of pre and post war landmarks of Frankfurt. Take a walk to the Mainz and be sure to cross the bridge to the other side! Museums and all kinds of goodness await.
