Highly recommend this shop for a fun family/friend/dating activity. This store is located in Redondo Pier. The store is very closed to the parking structure. Have to purchase parking tickets to park at the parking garage. Staff is very friendly and welcoming. He explained to me about the company, and their pearl. These are sea water pearls, and they are more valuable than fresh water pearls. The staff handed us the tongs, and we picked an oyster. The staff than opened the oyster for us. This is an exciting process as it is like opening a labubu blindbox that you do not know what you will get. I was very lucky that I scored a double blue/gray pearls. They are very similar in size, and the staff recommended me to make it into a pair of earrings. He is patient and recommended me a setting, and I agreed! Price is very reasonable, and this is worth the money I paid.

I had such a magical time! The two men that worked there on the 15th of February were so kind and very knowledgeable! The whole experience was so special. They made me and my husband feel so comfortable. They even opened earlier than their hours that were posted on their door because they saw us waiting outside. I bought a beautiful ring that looks like coral circling my pearl and I fell in love with the quality and workmanship... I left and immediately returned in minutes to get my second pearl put into a necklace! Oh yes, almost instantly I opened up a second oyster after my first! I can't wait to go back and get the dragon pendant necklace.

We went back to Kobe Pearl and Gem on 6/2/2022, and was able to bring my then 10 year old daughter (she is now 14). We got some pearls made into necklaces from when I went to the LA County Fair whilst pregnant with my daughter. The owners are always so patient with me and always went out of their way to provide the best possible service for us. I will always recommend this for the location and also the memories associated with them!

I've lived near Redondo for almost 13 years and I've always wanted to pick my own oyster to find what kind of pearl I'd get!! Never did I think I would come back with my husband and son to do this experience!! Such a beautiful moment. So to start, you have to pay for parking on the pier, it was only $2 per hour. This family owned business has been at this location for 53 years!! Insane right!!! The oysters are coming all the way from Japan and the pearls take roughly about 5 years to calcify. The owner was so nice and explained the process very well. I had my son pick out the oyster and I picked out the necklace myself!! They attach your pearl to your choice of jewelry and you just need to let it set for 15 hours before you wear your new jewelry! You also get a certificate of the pearl as well. I absolutely love my new necklace!! Perfect timing for all the holiday get togethers we were going to! Loved the entire experience! Highly recommended if you're visiting or even if you're a local.

I love picking out the oyster that is home to a pearl. It's always reminds me of my mom. Almost every year at the Riverside County fair and date festival, we would go to Kobe's booth and get pearls. Being on the Redondo Beach pier, I knew what I needed to do. They are very kind people who own the place. They have a good assortment of items to set your pearl in. This time I did a turtle. Thanks Kobe for great memories

The whole experience was only about $60

The funny thing is I grew up going to Redondo Beach Pier. I've always passed by this place and assumed it was very expensive. So glad I took a chance and popped in. It was such a unique experience and very affordable. The guy running the shop was very welcoming And answered all of my questions. It was pretty exciting being able to choose a random oyster and not knowing what type of pearl or how many would be inside .I was so surprised to see so many affordable jewelry options in sterling silver. Purchasing jewelry was optional. You can just participate in the process of selecting your own Pearl for only $15.99 I think. You can choose to have the Pearl mounted on your own or come back later to pick jewelry. My Pearl actually appears for $79. The value of my single Pearl was more than what I paid for the experience and the jewelry . So it was a total win. It only took 20 minutes to create my necklace. The Redondo Beach Pier is so beautiful and scenic. It was no problem passing the time by walking around. I would definitely recommend this for a unique experience especially during the summer. Or if you want to get a unique gift for someone.

This is literally a Hidden Gem, a Pearl in a "boardwalk oyster." You would not realize that this location was here, in between all the bars, restaurants, shops and busyness of the boardwalk; if you didn't stop to appreciate every small business. I highly recommend this location as it's an exciting and memorable experience. "Ron" was the best in helping us out and showing us the process. These oysters all contain and guarantee a pearl inside. The oysters come from Japan and are left alone after 5 years to produce the hidden gem inside. The value of the entire package is adequate for the experience and authenticity. First is the selection of the Oyster - $15.95, then the suspense comes when the oyster is opened. It may have one, two or even three pearls. Or you might even get a rare one (silver-blue-black). The second process is now selecting your jewelry. Which will vary in cost, since you can choose, a ring, necklace or pendant in gold or silver. This is truly a treasure waiting to be rediscovered!

*I could not recommend this place enough and really ask if you are a visitor in the the area of LA make this place a destination spot! * This is a full circle moment for me coming here. Given that I was born in Redondo Beach I will always support anything here! I remember being about 7 years old and walking on the pier with my family many many times. I always noticed this spot and could only wish to have an experience here and be able to pick my own pearl oyster. Well many many many years later I decided to come back to this place. We first stoped to get some chowder and then I kid you not I could not remember where this place was nor if it still existed. I kept on walking and walking and walking and before you know it I am standing right in front of this place and my jaw drops. It has not changed and I'm getting a flood of memories. I'm so over joyed and then Blayne starts talking to me and I tell him I remember being a kid and seeing this place many times only wishing to be able to get my own pearl. Side note Blayne is such an amazing person ! He was super kind and it very easy to connect with. It made my families time in California very special and it's an experience I will ever ever forget so thank you! Okay so at this point my daughter has been talking about wanting her own Pearl as a Christmas gift given it's one of her birthstones so it's very special she gets one here. Blayne explained that these oyster are shipped from Japan and we are looking at 5 years of work! She is given some wooden tongs and picks an oyster. Blayne explains that there can be colored ones that are like pastel colors but never neon as some or put out on social media. Also that some can have 2 or 1 pearls. She picks one with 1 pearl and her reaction is simply amazing. I couldn't help but want my own and I grab the tongs and close my eyes do a little prayer and pick one and you guys Blayne opens it and there are 2 pearls and one of them is slightly pink. He cleans them up and evaluates them and outs puts them in a little bag and I'm just like processing you know what my 7 year old self would think if she saw me now. Inside you have options to make them into jewelry if you'd like. Thank you Blayne for everything!

My husband and I had the best time at this spot. What a fun, unique, and interactive experience! We got to pick our clam with Ron and he opened it up for us and shared a little bit about the history of the business. I got this beautiful cream gold pearl that was valued at $76 and I only paid $13 for the pearl! We had them set the pearl in a silver ring. They have a constant flow of customers that come by and they're extremely friendly and kind to everyone.

We had a great time learning about pearls and creating a new jewelry piece. The guys working there were really welcoming to everyone. Thanks for a great Labor Day weekend experience. We will definitely be back!

How much is it per oyster? Also I got a ring from you guys a long time ago but lost my card that had the value of it, would you guys be able to inspect it and tell me what its worth now?

$16.99 each. Bring the ring with and ask. I am sure that they can recognize their own product. Hope it helps.

I was quoted a little over $200 for the diamond replacement and a very minor resize of ¼ size down. When I went to pick up the ring, I was informed--after the work was already completed--that additional prongs had been replaced on both sides of the ring and that I now owed an extra $240. I was never contacted, informed, or asked for approval before this additional work was done. The explanation given was that some of the prong work was necessary due to resizing. However, after waiting over 40 minutes at pickup because the ring was "in billing," I was then told the resize had actually been forgotten entirely and had to be done on the spot. This made the justification for the unapproved prong work even more concerning. After calling twice and initially being brushed off by sales associates, I finally spoke with the owner, who acknowledged that I had not consented to the extra work and agreed to waive the additional charge. While I appreciate the owner ultimately correcting the billing, the situation itself should never have occurred. Jewelry--especially a wedding band--is deeply personal. Any additional work, design changes, or charges should never be performed without explicit customer approval. Between the unapproved services, forgotten resize, and billing delay, the experience felt disorganized and stressful. I would urge future customers to proceed with caution, insist on written estimates, and require approval before any additional work is done.

After almost 35 years, the stone on my Wife's engagement ring fell out of its setting and was lost. Sam patiently showed me wonderful options in natural diamonds and my selection was made. The ring would be reborn with a stone over three times the size of the original, which was a fitting tribute to our over three decades of marriage. A week later I returned to pick up Sam's creation and nearly fell over at the craftsmanship and beauty of this wonderful piece.
