When entering Koala Kolache, I was greeted immediately by a young lady who was super kind and passionate about her craft. Through conversation, I learned that she is the owner. The passion for food and her business was evident before even tasting their sweet treats. I ended up getting 3 cinnamon rolls (2 raspberry, 1 Nutella) & 4 Kolaches (jalapeño popper 2.0, potato egg & cheese, spicy boudin and cherry). While making my selections, I had a great time talking with "Krazy"! The cinnamon rolls were seriously the best I've ever had in my life and I LOVE cinnamon rolls. Although the kolaches cost a little more that other places, the level of quality was evident with each bite. Whenever I'm in the Houston area, I'll be sure to stop by again to get some of the best treats ever. The food scene in that area still needs some growth and I hope that the community appreciates the level of quality that Koala Kolache is bringing. I love this place, love their kolaches and they have the best cinnamon rolls. I always feel so welcomed when I walk in. So I ordered the thanksgiving rolls and was supposed to pick them up by a certain time...life happened and i ended up locked out of my house with no car keys. When I called to let them know (they were about to close) the owner was so sweet and said not worry she could deliver them for me and gave me an extra surprise with the delivery. Delishalish!! Holy cow! Unfortunately, I showed up to Koala Kolache just after 10 am and most of the "good stuff" was sold out. Fortunately, I was able to get my hands on a few scrumptious pastries. The peach cobbler and oreo cinnamon buns were to die for! And the turkey and swiss kolache was a buttery, mouth watering goodie. Picked up cinnamon rolls this am and it was utter disappointment. They shrunk and not giant anymore. Frosting was just a blob in the center. Once upon a time, they were giant and frosting spread over the roll...I guess those days are over. read more

It is a little pricier than your everyday kolache/donut shop but if you're looking for something different in the burbs, this is the place. The kolache selection is extremely varied. My husband loves the brisket one. I personally am obsessed with their cinnamon rolls. This place used to be great! I hadn't been there in a long time but decided to treat myself this morning. I was disappointed because the cases were gone as was the variety. Holy moly! These folks can seriously rock a cinnamon roll!!!!!! The best I've ever had! My wife and I drove about 35 minutes from spring to try it out and we were floored by the pastries! The owner is so welcoming and sweet as was the staff. I'm surprised to find out she's from Cali and I've decided to not hold it against the shop. Lol. We had a Nutella and a raspberry cinnamon rolls and several kolaches. My wife is pescatarian, so it's not always easy to find vegetarian options when looking for new places. Not only are the kolaches delicious and creative, the owner is such a beautiful person. She greets her customers with so much happiness and enthusiasm. I went here for the first time today and was grateful she was open for New Year's Day. This was the best cinnamon roll I've ever had in my life! I have been coming here for Kolaches for over five years. The Kolaches are always fresh and sometimes still warm from the oven. Latest visit was different. Kolaches were wrapped in plastic and were cold. Noticed they installed an expensive toaster oven for reheating. Appears they are making Kolaches ahead and refrigerating them for reheat later. The Kolache dough was soggy and was not flaky. Even the fruit Kolaches were cold from the refrigerator. Please go back to the way you have always made them. read more

Pizza, spicy Brisket, sausage N gravy, monte cristo, gyro, BEC, SEC, PEC, and the Pork Belly one! That's just the ones that I saw when I went late in the morning. Holy Kolache sausage-man! I'm never going any place else. You see, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand that if you want great food, YOU need to put some effort into it. After reading their reviews it was obvious I needed to be there when they opened the doors at 7am Saturday...and that means setting an alarm for 6:30am. It's well worth it. Every negative review on Yelp has one common denominator..."closed" because they were "sold out." Then I say to you; take your fast food mentality back to McDonalds where it came from and have yourself a big bowl of "shut the (insert your favorite expletive here) up!" I really love this place the owner is super sweet and friendly and the place is absolutely spotless in a cozy atmosphere. They have amazing homemade kolaches with a variety of fillings that will please just about anybody and the donuts are awesome especially the koala cakes that are stuffed with ice cream and topped with your favorite cereal. Stopped by at 8:30am, they were almost out of everything. Good for them, bad for us lol. 1) We got the grand opening special - $2.99 for a dozen glazed donuts. They were awesome! I wish I could have tasted them when they were still warm, it probably would have melted in my mouth. Although, a tad sweet the donuts were very soft and the flavor was great. 2) Alcohol - this one was actually kind of fun. Maybe orange liqueur flavor? I could be wrong, but it was good. It was infused into a custard type filling. 3) Apple Fritter - This wasn't too dough, and still had a nice crunch to it. I love my apple fritters, and this one was good! Great texture and flavor. 4) Maple Bacon Donut - I was skeptical of this one because it looked dry, but when I bit into it it was very soft. I usually like my maple bacons as long johns w a thick bacon slice, so this one can't compare to those. They were good though. All in all, I will definitely be back. I would love to try their kolaches, which they were mostly out of. The owners were super nice, the decor was cute and most important of all the price for gourmet donuts weren't too bad at all. Everything we ordered there was over browned, over baked, and bitter. We had two fruit kolaches, a cinnamon roll, a jalapeño popper kolache, two mini sausage kolaches, and a boudin kolache... every single item was over cooked. The fruit kolaches and meat klobasneks (as they are properly called) are some of the best in the area, and they offer some super unique offerings, like smoked brisket, macaroni and cheese and halal klobasneks. Honestly, the kids sausage and cheese klobasnek is excellent, and is a great snack or breakfast for children or adults. The strawberry and cream cheese kolaches are also exceptional. If you want a comparison to Kolache Factory, I'd say they are a 3/5, which Koala's is a 5/5. The owner is super nice and very friendly. You can tell she cares about her customers and the food she is creating. We'll be back often. The line can sometimes get long mid-morning, and once they sell out, they are out. So get there early. Also, there isn't really anywhere to eat there so get them to go, or have them warmed up and eat in the car or outside. read more

My husband and I used to love this place and I am sad I have to write this review but I want to save others from what we experienced. We got the black bean enchilada and jalapeño popper kolaches on Friday and were sick the entire weekend with food poisoning. We know it was from this because that was all we were able to eat that day. I think they should start refrigerating their kolaches to hopefully avoid this problem in the future. Koala Kolache has the best donuts and kolaches. Cypress is far for me but they make the drive worth it! Their kolache dough is sweet and their donuts have the best quality ingredients. I normally get to try their stuff because my coworkers bring it to work, but I went for the first time yesterday. The owners were so nice. They seem genuinely passionate about their business and their customers. Unfortunately it was close to closing so a lot of things were sold out. However, the owners were so generous to give me a box of their assorted donuts and they were amazing! I have to say my favorite is their blueberry donut. I've been on the search for a good cinnamon roll in Houston for years now - and today the search ends! The cinnamon rolls here are perfection. For me, it all comes down to the dough, and at Koala the dough is light and fluffy, not dense at all - just the way it should be. Based on appearance, I was worried that there wasn't going to be enough frosting, but I was wrong, the ratio was perfect. The roll was also huge - I'll be snacking on it all day and into tomorrow. We enjoyed the kolaches as well, the dough is spot on and the fillings are fresh and tasty. The gyro was a favorite, but all were worth getting again. The boudin has a kick to it!
