This is the first practice ever where I have had to pay taxes for a fully covered preventative service. This is not a normal practice. I was met with a lot of rudeness when asked to have this explained to me. 2. During an appointment we were asked if we wanted fluoride. I asked if my children has already had their one covered for the year, and was told no. Then I was charged for the cost, because we had already had it at the last appointment. When I called to ask, I was told it was not the offices responsibility to know what I had been billed for. Even though they billed my insurance. I felt I was blamed for not doing a better job of checking their billing practices, instead of them questioning whether or not that is a shady practice. 3. The final straw was a shift to only scheduling 2 months in advance even though we should be regularly seen every 6 months. When I called to explain that this practice-serving service I was told if I didn't want to have to pull my children out of school for an appointment I was welcome to call each week to try to get a better time. Did you know that recently I get it feedback and questioning is not always welcomed.

I found this practice on a whim while searching for pediatric dentists. It's doesn't have a formal…read morename but don't let that turn you away because this is a complete dental clinic specifically for children. The clinic has two dentists, four hygienists, and a couple front desk staff. The office is located in an office park building in Maple Grove. The waiting room is so welcoming. It's tastefully decorated for kids. Cartoons on the TV, free Pac-Man arcade game, lots of books, and magazine for the adults. The front desk staff was very nice and helpful. The exam space is great, too. It's an open-air concept with benches and art for privacy rather than walls or exam rooms. My favorite part of our visit was the staff. As someone who despises trips to the dentist myself, I have put off my son's first visit for years. At 4.5, I worried that he would be scared and non-compliant. But our hygienist made him feel very comfortable. I appreciated that she showed him the chair and let him try each of the tools before using them. The cleaning was very gentle. She took breaks as often as he asked. After he picked out a prize and got a sticker for being cavity-free, we saw the dentist (Dr. Borodkin). She reviewed his chart and took the time to review his X-rays in detail. I was worried that she would scold me for waiting so long to bring him in. Not at all! She was informative and supportive, not judgmental. We left with a 'swag' bag - toothbrush, paste, a water bottle, a really nifty flosser, and a save the date for our next appointment. We will DEFINITELY be going back.

As an adult with dentist anxiety, I had MUCH delayed taking my kids and both had cavities... what I had dreaded (and expected). However, the way the staff and Dr. Venetia helped make them feel comfortable and calm (and informed about what's happening every step of the way) was nothing short of miraculous. No tears. No pain. No fear... for the kids or for me! :) I'm SO impressed with their approach, kindness and knowledge about kids and their teeth. Thank GOODNESS I found this clinic.

When she came out she was so drugged up it was terrifying . It was obvious she had been crying yet the staff never came to ask me how to proceed or inform me. Instead she told me how the one technician had informed her if she kept crying she would throw up and she would have to clean it up if she did. This was a scared 4 yr old child and that is how they dealt with her! Absolutely disgusting and I would never use a dentist geared towards children again. I switched to an elderly dentist who did not specialize in children and she never had an issue, he never scared her or hurt her. She was of course afraid at first thinking it might be like this place , but once she saw it wasn't she was fine. Thank goodness she didnt end up afraid of dentists forever.

I informed the hygienist how scared he was and how he has anxiety and she said no problem, that how at there office they always go over everything with the kids before they do it so they know what's coming and they work slow to keep the kids happy, which made me happy. However that never happened my son was put in the chair and simply said I'm going to look at your teeth and started cleaning. He had no clue what was going on and he freaked out. He was crying so hard and trying to get up. Then the hygienist asked me to help keep him down so she could finish. So I basically had to lay on top of him to let her clean his teeth when she was done his whole mouth was full of blood. I will never go back and will tell everyone who asks to find somewhere else because in my opinion that is not how to deal with children. My son says he will never go to the dentist again and it actually scared him so bad he developed a nervous tick from it that we had to take him to pediatrician for.

Preferably someone who doesn't run their practice like a shady car dealer trying to upsell you on accessories you don't need. We had been referred here by our dentist because our 3 year old daughter needed a small filling in her baby tooth. First off, I was told that at least two appointments would be required - one for our child to be examined and then a second appointment for the filling. For a simple filling, mind you. At the first appointment they basically confirmed what we already knew - our daughter had a small cavity in a baby tooth. Then it got interesting. We were told that she would need to be administered a general anesthetic and put under for a few hours while the doctor worked. This was supposedly to eliminate the possibility that the child might react negatively, i.e. cry, whine, etc. and thereby prolong the procedure. Doctor knows best, right?! I suspect the doctor has figured out that by scaring young parents with stories of teeth gone bad she can charge exorbitant fees for anesthesia, surgery prep, and other unnecessary treatments. Suffice it say that we balked at putting our 3 year old daughter under a general anesthetic for several thousands of dollars and possibly risking serious health consequences. After a few phone calls, we found another dentist who filled the BABY TOOTH cavity for a little over $100 and without any anesthetic whatsoever. Just a little calm talking and joking around for a few minutes to make her comfortable.

My kids absolutely adore Dr. Sakhi. When I tell them they are going to the dentist they get so excited. Dr. Sakhi is gentle with the kids and speaks to the parents after in a gentle manor. When my daughter started she got to lay on the chair with her brother to feel comfortable. The waiting space is open and warm. The rooms are magical with clouds etc. Even the bathroom is cute. We love it here.
