The Koalas are absolutely amazing creatures as are the kangaroos and wallabies. It is such a special experience to be able to watch them in their habitats and feed them... neither of which you can do anywhere else in the world. This sanctuary is VERY well kept! The animals are all healthy & active within their habitats. The staff are all well educated and very well spoken. It was so much fun to be able to touch and feed all of the animals and learn info that can't necessarily be learned at the typical zoos in the US. CANNOT beat this experience especially with how little it costs! Another one in a life time experience. I can't say enough how special this place is and is most DEFINITELY a MUST DO.

We were lucky enough to hear the Dingo's howl once inside the park preparing us for the sound that occasionally breaks the silence of our next destination, the Australian semi arid zone and the Red Centre. We timed our trip to include feeding kangaroos on the wallaby walk and the keeper-led talks on Cockatoos, Parrots and Koalas. Aurora the Red tailed cockatoo patiently sitting on her egg in the Cockatoo enclosure being fed by her mate Antonio was particularly sweet to see. Mo the Koala put on a show once he was offered some West Australia Eucalypt leaves known as Koala junk food. We learned that Koalas have a gestation of 35 days before moving to the pouch for 6-8 months and then finally mums back til they are weaned of Pap and left to fend for themselves. With a lifespan of 10-15 years Koalas don't mind the rain with a waterproof and double coat that keeps the rain off and cold out even high in the gum trees. Our tour guide delivered a quick synopsis on Wombats and their curious cubed poo and self defense system before we attended the conservation training show where we got up and personal with Pikelet the long nosed Potoroo and Mikah and Obsidian the flighty Bush Stone Curlews.

DO NOT GO HERE! This place is not ethical and I'm mad at myself that I didn't do my do my due…read morediligence before visiting. While there is enough space for the koalas (who don't require much) and MAYBE the Kangaroos (though honestly, I think they need more)... the dingoes, singular pony (why do they have this?!!!), emus, cassowaries, reptiles, owls, kookaburras wombats, and wallabies all live in enclosures way too small. Except for some cockatoos and peacocks, the birds are kept in cages and the kookaburra was all alone. The emus and cassowaries were pacing single sides of fences, as if in distress. They also don't have staff anywhere to be seen unless they are taking someone to an additional paid experience or if they are doing one of their talks and so no one is around to ensure that visitors are following the rules and obeying the signs. We saw several people feed emus and other animals where there was a "do not give kangaroo feed" sign and also feeding directly from the containers which is not allowed and not a single person who worked there trying to stop this. Also they have a sign that says wallabies like to live alone and have multiple living together and dingoes sitting around in the kind of square footage I wouldn't even consider adequate for my dogs. I'm embarrassed to say that I came to this place and will be figuring out how to report them to the RSPCA/Vic Gov

My husband and I both enjoyed the whole thing…read more Very nice, clean, and well-maintained eudcational area, restaurant, and gift shop inside as well as boardwalks and beachfront with plenty of room for viewing. The food at the restaurant was fair quality but took a little while to be made due to the number of people there at the same time for the upcoming viewing. They do NOT accept cash at this park, tho. I'd definitely recommend purchasing tickets ahead of time. I'd also recommend bringing a blanket and or heavy jacket as it gets VERY cold once the sun goes down. If it rains before your viewing and you've paid to be in the seated viewing area.... there won't be a way to dry the seats off either. No photography is allowed after the penguins begin to come ashore. The park staff are QUITE RUDE and will call you out if you even pull your phone out of your pocket. I'd advise just keep it on silent and in your pocket. There is an option to down load pics that the staff has taken via QR code. You may also be able to sneak a few on the way back to the car along the boardwalk which IS lit up enough to get a few decent shots.

There are plenty of viewing areas above the beach in the dunes of the nesting areas where you can see them up close. We were lucky as there were also molting penguins - lose all their feathers and star over in addition to those nesting.

No offense intended to the unending supply of sheep, but the first animals you'll really notice are the red, yakkish beasts called Scottish Highland cattle that look like they fell out of a Jim Henson movie. They seem pretty intimidating with their long, pointy horns, but we walked right up to one and even fed it grass so we were able to get some great photos... and all this before we'd even gotten to the farm. Admission is included if you get a three parks pass (the other two are the Penguin Parade and the Koala Conservation Centre), and otherwise pretty affordable. The farm is of a traditional style, with various audience-oriented farming activities throughout the day. We didn't stay long, but arrived in time for an old-school cow milking, during which everybody (including yours truly) had the opportunity to sit on a little wooden stool and squeeze milk out of an udder. Not sure what the cow thought, but I sure got a kick out of it. Had we stayed a little longer, we might have also seen sheep shearing and a working dog demonstration, among other things. As it was, we ended up spending a solid hour relaxing on this unusual island farm, some of which was not spent harassing the Highland cows.

Sheep shearing, herding, and talks from the farmers are all fantastic. The traditional home was built back in the 1820's, and you can walk through and see it in it's preserved glory. There's a lot of information to read - so I won't spoil it for you! The cafe is not that great, but good for a coffee and to sit out and look at some beautiful scenery out toward the water. It's also part of the 3-ticket pass you can buy - alongside the Koala Conservation Centre and the Penguins. Worth going back to, even just to pat the horses :)

In fact, it is quite surprising to find such a lovely place in an outer suburb, but here it is. Then again, I do notice that is adjoins the Frankston hospital, so there is probably a reason as to why these gardens exist. Still, they are definitely worth checking out, or even having a picnic in.

I'm not sure it could be windier or chillier than when we visited. Brrrrr but so worth it to see the views. The power of the ocean brought huge waves into the shore. The green of the grass contrasted with the dark rock created stunning views. As you walk along the boardwalk, don't forget to look in the grass along the way to see the Cape Barren Goose and its babies. So cool. Pictures can't relay the beauty you this natural area. Put your camera down and just watch. You won't be disappointed.

It's free, free parking and wether cold and windy or bright and sunny the view comes to life in different ways. The more wind and waves the better. You can see the waves smash against the black textures rocks bursting white as the waves crash and filling the air with a mist of salt. It beautiful. On your journey down the raised track you will encounter sea gulls, rabbits and if your lucky even the baby penguins which inhabit the island waiting for their parents to come back and feed them. During certain months of the year the platforms become a viewing deck for the Wales that migrate through the bay and if you have binoculars you can glimpse at the seals which live of the far island. If your on Phillip island, just go!
