Captain Chris and MJ were the best! We did a three hour charter around the lake and had a blast. They were able to get us our provisions so we didn't need to bring anything but ourselves when we arrived. They have all the toys, too! Highly recommend!

KnockOut Charters knocks it out of the park everytime!! The boat is beautiful, and is perfect for a group! We were able to bring our own food and beverages, and they immediately put everything on ice/in the fridge and were asking what we would like. There was never a moment were a cup or can was dry without being asked if we would like a refill. They are eager to help take photos for the group as well, and really went over and above to ensure we were having a great time!! I've also used them for a concert drop off and pick up, which was SO FUN and memorable. I highly recommend it for concerts at soldier field! Made it easier to get out of the concert quickly, and plus had your own food and drinks waiting too :) Captain Chris and his crew are the best, I can't recommend them enough!!

Our group of 5 booked the fireworks cruise with Captain Chris on a recent visit to Chicago. Since we were downtown on a Wednesday, we opted for the sunset/fireworks cruise. The August weather was ideal with calm waters and a warm day although we were glad we brought along light jackets. The cruise started out from DuSable harbor and was a short walk from our hotel in River North. We just walked along the river walk and came right to our departure point at Dock D, slip #1. After a quick safety briefing we were off. For the first part of the 2-hour cruise you hug the shoreline watching the sun set behind the city and all of its lights pop on. Once we reached the museums we headed back north along Navy pier all the while snapping pictures of the skyline. Chris made sure to take his time and it was such a beautiful night we mostly sat up front on the bow of the boat relaxing. As the time for fireworks approached (9:30 pm) he had positioned the boat perfectly in a spot that was about as close as the harbor police would allow and one where our boat was virtually alone. There are tons of big boats out there and parts of the lake looked like a freeway at rush hour so it was nice to be alone. You can bring any food and drink along that you want on the boat too. I highly recommend trying this out whether for fireworks or any of his other daily excursions. It's a great way to see the city.

Knock Out Charters goes above and beyond. I want to personally thank Captain Chris, Captain John, and Crewmember (photographer) Tess for helping me out plan the perfect engagement. I originally reached out to Captain Chris to plan a surprise proposal. Captain Chris actually thought of some great ideas and made sure we made my fiancée Trish had no clue on what was going on. To summarize how it went down: - My girlfriend (now fiancée) Trish was told by her friend Faye that she won a free boat tour package. - I told Trish that I was going to be out of town - I got to the boat early and hid in the lower level room - The girls arrived on the boat the plan was to cruise to around Shedd Aquarium - Tess, the crewmember/photographer, told the girls that they were updating pictures on the website so they would take pictures of Trish and Faye. - They made Trish stand at the front of the boat in the "Titanic Pose" and were taking pictures. - I got the que to come out from the lower level bedroom I was hiding in and I came up and surprised Trish and it went perfect. - We then cruised around for about 2 hours. Based upon how they treated me and everything, I'm planning on chartering a boat every summer in Chicago from them as they simply treat their guest more than just customers, they really treat everyone as friends. I took my wife out for her birthday with Chris on Knock Out Charters. We had a great time. Our charter was for 3 hours and did a little cruising before heading over to the "Play Pen." We hung out there and were able to go swimming and jump off the boat! Chris is one of the most gracious hosts I've ever experienced. Anything we wanted, he was able to take care of. Warning, warning, warning! Do not put your faith in this company. I had several friends come in from out of state for my birthday. We supposedly rented a chartered boat from "Captin Chris" 3 months in advance. After he sent me the date, time and price, he never returned another email or answered a phone call. He then sent an email that was clearly being sent to multiple people because the heading had other names in it and it said that he was canceling our trip hours before we were suppose to go. Wow! What an amazing experience! The captain was wonderful from start to finish. So professional and soooooo incredibly nice... I can't say enough how pleased I am with my experience! The captain and Hayden (sorry for the misspell) took the time to make us feel so welcomed and they gave us a first class experience. I had never done anything like this before and the captain took his time to explain everything and walked us around the boat. They provided complimentary beverages and they even set the mood right with Pandora. Thanks for setting the mood right with some Bon Iver... Just saying! We boated, yes I said boated around Lake Michigan and made it our own perfect, magical night. Also, the captain went out and picked up a bottle of champagne for us and had it chilled perfect for us. I have to give him props on his choice since he only asked me if I wanted sweet or dry and a price range, needless to say I loved everything. And Hayden! Such an awesome helper to the captain, very attentive and she took our picture while I was too afraid to let go of my death grip while we had an occasional wave or two as to be expected out on Lake Michigan... We went on the sunset cruise for 6 last night, and it was such a wonderful experience! It was a great way to get to see that side of Chicago and my friends and I all absolutely loved it. There were indoor and outdoor areas of the boat (since it was a bit cold last night just thought I'd mention this), and the boat was extremely well maintained and comfortable for all of us. Captain Chris did a great job explaining to us where we were going, what we were going to do, giving us the rules of the boat, telling us where to sit to get out of the wind at specific parts of the cruise, etc. You get to control all music when you're on board, and you can bring in your own food and drink (I recommend wine and cheese). Like he says, the boat is yours for the next hour and a half. There was plenty of seating for everyone. He even has a bathroom on the boat. It was a great time! Great experience. Definitely a great value! We will be checking it out again next season! read more

I planned a bachelorette party in Chicago and stumbled upon KnockOut Charters and a few other boat providers. KnockOut offered the best rates and the nicest boat for the money. Captain Chris & Jeremy were fantastic and so accommodating. They provided everything and helped us get alcohol delivered to the boat. The boat was clean and spacious for the group of 11. Believe all the rave reviews on KO Charters and Captain Chris - they are all true. Last night my husband and I did the 1.5 hr Skyline Cruise with Captain Chris. Captain Chris was friendly and hospitable and our cruise was a great way end our evening. We brought our own food and drinks and enjoyed the relaxing cruise on Lake Michigan. Captain Chris is very committed to you having a great boating experience. We were originally scheduled for Saturday evening, but Captain Chris was concerned the winds and cloudy/rainy weather would affect our experience so we rescheduled to Tuesday. We chartered the vessel last weekend and the experience was amazing. Captain Chris is very friendly and helpful. The vessel was very neat and clean and had all the basic amenities. We were provided with blankets and jackets, as the beautiful ladies with us did not expect the chill on a fine summer evening. Booked the engagement cruise on Aug 4th. Overall the experience was ok. But Captain Chris promised to send us the photos immediately after the cruise. However, he has been delaying for several times, today I still haven't received our engagement moments yet. This got me really mad that none of our "once life time" moment was recorded. Our parents want to see the pictures but we have to make excuses to cover for irresponsible Captain. Now no matter I call him or text him, he would not reply any more. Horrible experience. read more

Girls night out was taken to a new level with KO Charters! Captain Chris was very knowledgeable, made us feel very comfortable, and was very friendly. The boat is spacious and provided chairs and a table for us to set up a spread of BYO wine and snacks. Chris gave us the option of three scenic routes and took us on a beautiful tour of the city's harbor and shoreline. I would recommend KO Charters to anyone, for any occasion. Captain Chris made this experience-a bachelorette party composed of 6 out of town guests, a thoroughly professional and enjoyable experience from booking to docking. He helped arrange every facet of the 2 hour cruise complete with lunch.....a turn key experience that was worth every second. I cannot recommend this charter service enough! So much so, I will probably find an excuse to use them again! Captain Chris is fantastic, he was prompt in emails and phone calls, gave very helpful and clear information and instructions prior to even setting foot on the boat. We charted the 37' Luhrs. It was clean, they provided plates, napkins, cups and water. We brought a iPod with a playlist on it that we hooked up to their sound system, it was an amazing addition to the charter! Our boat captain was Captain Ken who made sure we were both safe and had fun the entire time, even offered to take photos of us so we could have photos of the entire group! We dropped anchor and were able to swim, hangout in the water in addition to riding around the entire Chicago lakefront - everything from down by the Aquarium up North of Navy Pier, which provided for some amazing photos of us all! This was a bachelorette party and the boat was totally the highlight of the day! We were so worried about weather because we booked months ago, thankfully it was a beautiful day, but Knockout is so amazing, they told us if we couldn't use the boat for weather reasons there would not be any cancelation fees. If I could give Knockout Charters 6 stars, I would! read more

I specifically started a Yelp account so I could write this review - that should tell you something right there. A group of us took Knockout Charters out yesterday for a Bachelorette Party and had a blast. Chris and his crew were so, so accommodating and made the process run so smoothly. I truly felt that Chris was there to make the whole thing easy for us - from booking, to suggesting catering for the boat, instructions, parking, etc. I called several other charters while in the process of booking and NONE were as nice to work with as Chris. We chartered a 3 hour tour (plus 2 hours of standby time while eating supper at a restaurant) in the evening to celebrate my daughter's 30th birthday with a group of 8. We went down the river, ate at a restaurant, and out onto the lake. Enjoying the night time lights from the river and the bay in Chicago was amazing! Captain Chris was great! He was very professional and accommodating. He communicated promptly, making planning the process was enjoyable. He gave us a variety of options to create an adventure that was uniquely suited to our needs. We have visited chicago many times, and the group consensus was that this was one of the most enjoyable things we have done in Chicago with our adult children. We were able to bring food and beverages and even a birthday cake. (Refrigerator and coolers and tableware were provided by the tour). Restroom on the boat was clean and greatly appreciated. This tour is highly recommended if you want an enjoyable and relaxing time in the city! Thanks captain Chris for helping to make our daughter's birthday a fabulous memory!!! read more

What a great experience! Captain Chris helped me plan my engagement. He was essential in pulling off this surprise. Chris even stayed behind to make sure my surprise guest was able to park and make it to the shore after the cruise. Lee & Ryan were our captains for the night. They provided us with excellent service, great conversation and professional photography to go along with a smooth ride. Lee and Ryan were also nice enough to film using my phone along with the professional Nikon camera during the proposal. They served us champagne and made sure the evening was special and enjoyable. They even aligned the boat perfectly to use the skyline as the backdrop which made the pictures unforgettable. We encountered a storm while out on the cruise. Lee and Ryan escorted us into the cabin and controlled the boat like professionals during the storm. These guys are great. They have great personalities and they are knowledgeable about the entire boating experience. The boat was very clean and spacious. There are even two sets of comfortable couches enclosed by a sliding glass door that ensure privacy during this cruise. Lee and Ryan also allowed us to plug in our devices to play music through the speakers that are located throughout the boat. Everyone should experience Knockout Charters at least once. We call it “The KnockOut Charters Experience” Having chartered boats on Lake Michigan and the Caribbean for more then 35 years, we realized that there was no boat available for smaller groups of 2-44 passengers that truly represented the image that a successful professional would want to portray to their clients.

Meet the Business Owner: Captain C.

Captain Chris has been boating for over 50 years on a myriad of both Power and Sail boats. He has been on Lake Michigan for over 40 years, and the passion has not waned one bit. A licensed Master Captain rated to 100 tons he approaches every charter with the same spirit that is best expressed by this quote: "I wish every person could experience the feelings I have every time I get on a boat". Chris brings his love for being on the water with him on every cruise.

Best deal. Our tour guide was happy, energetic, and very knowledgeable about Chicago because he was born and raised there. We chose the 75 minute, 4pm Chicago River tour and it covered a lot! We never lost interest and learned about Chicago's history. It is well worth it! Our Architecture River Tour boat departed from the dock at Navy Pier. We learned that their boats are the most accessible at this location. Their boats can accommodate wheelchairs up to 30-inches wide. Your wheelchair must be able to navigate a ramp with a 2-inch step at one end. I needed one that was kind to my knees. Best to call them for more details. They were very helpful whenever we called them. Their boats are both double-decker and single-level boats, and there is generally no protection from the sun, rain, or wind. There is a small bar on the main level. Restrooms are located on the lower deck, which is accessible only via stairs from the upper deck. Enjoy! It's amazing!

After seeing all the crazy amenities which were super cool with a ton of variety, I think the thing that surprised me the most is how up-to-date all of the equipment was and the variety of activities they had for people to enjoy. If you're looking for an all encompassing workout/work space, this is it! They have everything from full-size tennis courts, to a golf simulator-like set up,except you get to hit into an inflatable pillow! They also had plenty of Pickleball courts, and they offer so many different workout group classes.both a wet and dry, sauna, and tons of treadmills and free weights. I was also really impressed that they also had a physical training area. So think something that was my personal favorite and the best thing for Chicago Summers is a beautiful rooftop pool and lounge area. Not only did they have two outdoor pools (one for adults and one for kids) but they also have an indoor pool as well for winter as well as an indoor hot tub! They also had a common area workspace where people can come to take meetings and do their work from home gigs. You could practically move in here haha! As of right now, it is a $750 new membership fee as well as $295 a month, which is a pretty hefty chunk of change if you ask me considering most of the high rises around, have some kind of rooftop pool and workout area. It is cheaper if you join with a domestic partner or if you're between the ages of 16 and 29-see pic for current pricing. They also sometimes host social events which is super fun to meet everyone else in the club, but at the same time I think it is more of an investment in your future and your future health if you can afford it! I will not be joining at the moment, but hey-that could change anytime if I decide I should be on a health kick.

**UIC Swim Classes: A Budget-Friendly Option for Kids**…read more We enrolled in UIC Swim Classes for our 1.5-year-old and found it to be a solid, budget-friendly option. At $22 per session, the classes offer structured swim lessons at a more affordable rate compared to other local options. There is a chill vibe that works great for a 1st learner, but the level of rigor is lower than Goldfish so we switched there once we got off their wait list. Classes are sold in 5 week packages, and reschedules are not typically allowed. The class structure follows a set sequence of exercises. Instructors are friendly, but engagement is inconsistent. While they guide kids through various activities, the level of encouragement and feedback varies, with some instructors mentally checking out after providing initial directions. The UIC facility itself is quite nice - The water is comfortably warm and there are changing areas. Parking is available but paid for a few dollars. Note that your access is restricted to within 15 minutes of class time, so don't go too early. Though there are fewer opportunities for underwater practice and confidence-building dips, the parent/tot classes are primary about getting your kid comfortable in water. Overall, UIC Swim Classes deliver decent value for the price, though parents seeking a more intensive training that will get kids swimming faster may want to explore Goldfish.

We used Knockout Charters to scatter my dad's ashes on Lake Michigan, and I can't say enough good things about how they handled the day. It started out rainy and we weren't sure what to expect, but it cleared up into a beautiful afternoon on the water. Captain Chris was great from the start, super communicative, helped us think through the best way to do the scattering, and even helped us figure out parking ahead of time. The two crew members on board were friendly and helpful the whole trip, getting us on and off the boat and just making everyone feel comfortable. The waves picked up at one point and things got a little rocky, but the crew handled it well and it didn't put a damper on things at all. Our whole family felt welcomed and well taken care of. It was a really beautiful experience during a hard time, and I'd recommend Knockout Charters to anyone, whether for something like this or just a fun day out on the lake. read more

We went on an 8:00 p.m. cruise on the 22nd of June, 2011. We saw the skyline before and after dark. Then came the greatest part of the cruise when we saw the fireworks show. Captain Chris Connor had us positioned so that every firework that went off seemed to be just for us. The cruise was absolutely beautiful, the captain was outstanding in his ability to safely take us around Lake Michigan and the whole experience was much more than I had expected. I would highly recommend this boat for charter. It is very comfortable in every way and Captain Chris came through on everything. He even catered wine and cheese for us. The smaller private boat experience was so much better than the large, crowded boats we saw around the fireworks display. I cannot recommend it highly enough. The diligent way he communicated with us before and after arriving in Chicago, let us know what a reliable man he was. read more

The excellent service started before our trip even began with a free parking pass. I took a sunset cruise with three friends from out-of-town. Words can not express how beautiful the city looked--picture postcard perfect! Captain Chris stopped the boat/turned the boat around several times so we could get perfect photos. He took several photos of our group for us also. He invited us up to the Captain's area so we would have a better view. He made us feel like very important people. When the trip was over he gave us several ideas of where to eat and places to go dancing. I will definately take the sunset cruise again and again with other friends! read more

One of the most amazing experiences we have ever had! With the help of Captain Chris and Carole, I was able to propose to my fiance in such a special and memorable way. Chris was extremely nice and accommodating from the very first phone call. Once we got on the boat he helped me coordinate the proposal with Champagne and pictures. Fantastic experience! I wanted to treat my daughters and daughter-in-laws to a memorable evening. This was the perfect choice. Captain Chris made sure we were at ease with being aboard. From start to finish, the whole trip was phenomenal! We could go pretty much anywhere on the boat, but mostly we hung out with the Captain-- he showed us a completely different side of Chicago and pointed out interesting things along the way. The view was gorgeous and intimate; I really preferred it over those larger harbour cruises that cram as many people as possible onto a boat. KO Charters is what I cruise SHOULD be like.
