This is a solid, standard breakfast spot that also offers some lunch options. The breakfast portions are generous... you definitely get your money's worth. The restaurant appeared clean and the atmosphere was family-friendly. Our waitress was nice and did her job but didn't really go the extra mile. Parking isn't ideal since it's street parking so you take whatever you can find. Overall, the food was decent and tasted good, and I really appreciated the portion sizes.

Great place to stop in for drinks if you're looking for a dark, divey bar with odd characters. Interestingly, it's in a very nice part of Tacoma. It's also a restaurant serving "American" all day breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The service is always good. My only complaint is that they close reasonably early, so operate on more of a restaurant schedule (8pm).

Delicious corned beef and potatoes with an extra side of gravy. I got a pancake instead of toast!

My corned beef and potatoes was amazing! Quality corned beef, crispy and soft big chunks of homestyle potatoes, onions and green peppers and my eggs were the first time they were perfectly over medium anywhere I went. For a two dollar up charge I switched out toast for a big pancake! I got a side of gravy and it was super flavorful. They came around to refill the coffee and ice water often. The waitress was very nice and intuitive. A+

Now, I am giving this review based on a bar, diner type atmosphere, where I'm not looking for fine dining, but great food, interesting patrons, great service, and community. My husband and I needed to ship some Xmas gifts at the local UPS and decided to give Knapps a try. We live less than 5 minutes away and had never been. When we opened the door to the bar area, I thought there was a holiday party happening, but it was the normal Thursday night bingo party (yep!) and we were quickly welcomed, and offered our cards. So fun! Free, and now onto the food. I ordered wings and fries, and they were some of the best I've had in Tacoma. My husband ordered a burger and liked it, but mentioned that it needed seasoning. Katie, our amazing server, has been there 20+ years, and was fantastic! Now, it is a bar and we didn't drink the coffee or have breakfast. What we did have was really good! I know Knapps is under new ownership, and there are some fixes and updates that need to happen (bar seats for example) but we will be back for sure!!!

All too often we take breakfast for granted. It was a fluke that I found this gem of a restaurant while traveling. It literally is the best breakfast I've had in years . The food, the service and the atmosphere are all 10 stars plus. If you enjoy breakfast, make sure you find Knapp's.

Cobb Salad

Two words: Cobb Salad I love a Cobb salad. Today I walked into Knapps craving one but having no idea what I was in for. I have had my share of bad Cobbs in my 55 years. This was NOT one of them. It was delicious from first to last bite. Wow! They nailed it. Fresh quality ingredients make a difference! The waitstaff was a man with lots of energy and kindness. When I asked for an alternative dressing outside from bleu cheese he suggested 1000 island, as they make it fresh in-house. Then he said, I'll put it on the side in case you are not a fan and we want to switch it out". I loved it, and loved his ability to make me feel like a welcome customer. Thanks Knapps for a great experience and darn good Cobb!!

Omg I love this place. It's simply the best. The food and the atmosphere takes you back 30 years and it's be best classic dinner around.

Just the thing for a midweek late breakfast. Wonderful omelet and simply amazing hash browns. Add a sassy waitress, and I'll be back!

Seating is limited, but the bar is fully stocked! We ordered the chicken caesar salad and the Lil Saigon Sliders. The salad was fresh and crunchy, chicken well seasoned and tender, and the caesar dressing was BOMB! But those sliders..... WOW. The sliders bring everything you love about a banh mi to a mini slider that is the perfect snack size (although, they were so good we ended up ordering another) Our waitress was super kind and helpful with ordering, even suggesting a cocktail that was delicious. I can't stop thinking about how surprisingly good everything was and I cannot wait to come back for more!

The waitress even mentioned it was hot in this room and when we commented on it she just said yeah it sucks. I have Celiac so this is not a dietary choice, it's a medical restriction. I asked about gluten free options and she said nothing is gluten free (even though the website says it gluten free options available). She then said the best option for me would be the mushrooms or the wings because they are lightly breaded and she is gluten free and does well with those. We paid for our drinks and left. I won't be coming back and it's not because of the menu.

Come for a book club meeting, they let us use the middle room area…read more Service was great. Nick handled this woman in our group like a champ! She can't have gluten. She ordered a salad. I'm 99% sure it didn't have croutons buried in the middle, but she freaked out that her fork hit something crunchy and hard. Was most likely bacon but whatever. (The bacon was cooked too crispy perfection visually). She lost it. He didn't argue and had her another one made with the bacon on the side. Kuddos to him. While I fully sympathize with her concerns with gluten, she didn't fish out an actual crouton to show. The 3 cheese burger is absolutely a must! Personally I recommend salt and vinegar chips with it... Great mocktail options and they were happy to make anything off menu for me! Parking is tough but 100000% recommend checking this place out.

Nestled is an old neighborhood, surrounded by huge trees and beautiful flowers, has an ambiance that surpasses anything I have ever seen. It's a neighborhood bar, full service, with great beers on tap and great drinks. I spent two weeks in Tacoma with my sister, and we visited almost everyday. I met Jessie and Camille amongst sweet people. So very friendly. Their food options were special. I loved their simple hamburger and adored the dill pickle dip, I went home that night and found a similar recipe and made it for a party at my niece's. If you ever get up there, please find the time to stop by. I swear you won't regret it. This bar was established in 1935!!

I've been to Sidepony, the Mule's sister bar, which I absolutely love, so I've been dying to get in here! We finally got the chance before a Rainiers game recently and had a great experience. It's definitely bigger than I expected but the vibe is awesome. Like Sidepony, the decor is super eclectic and fun. There's a photobooth as well which is a fun touch. The back patio space is also really cool - it's also dark as it's covered, so I imagine it gets pretty warm back there in the hotter summer days. They don't have a giant food menu but they have a few sandwiches to choose from. We both got their grilled cheese which you can never go wrong with. Another notable part of our visit was the bartender - he was so nice! Extremely personable and handled holding down the entire bar by himself, including the cooking. Definitely will be added into our dive rotation. Can't wait to come back!

You can't really just show up and easily join in a table with friends anymore (the downside of booths). It's basically all new staff. Everything that made Terrys Terrys is gone. Its lost the casual, approachable vibe. The remodel looks great. The woodwork is absolutely beautiful, but that coupled with the cement floors makes it very loud. I do love that there is a patio where dogs are welcome. Of course the menu changed, that's expected. A lot of the old staples are gone. It's higher end fair. The new Mac and cheese bites are good (a new fancy version). You get 3 for $8. They no longer offer a patty melt, so I got the Meaty Mama Melt with Jo's. It was good, however I was baffled when it came out with ONLY 3 Jo's. It just seems cheap and ridiculous. The ranch used to be homemade and was delicious. The new one is watery and bland. And no tots?! It's still early days, and things may change. We will go back, but for now will need to find new spot to get takeout and classic bar food.
