I am sworn to protect people as my chosen profession. That being said, do not trust Jason or his wife Ashley. They are liars and will take full advantage of you. Go somewhere else!
1st signs, pushy/sleazy sales tactics:
They will find out your situation and use it against you (I hope you're not in a rush).
They will bait you into a commitment with false promises, claim they have other customers/orders, and tell you this "deal" won't be on the table for long.
They will try to get as much money up front from you as possible and the more committed you are, the more they will cut corners, charge extra, and break promises.
The contract is written mostly in their favor (they can delay, change layouts, doesn't cover every inch of the build, etc.).
The contract will not have everything they promised you.
They will use "miscommunication" tactics on you.
They will say everything's going wrong (labor issues, ordering issues, timeline issues, other client issues, space issues, etc.)
They will mess up your build (windows where walls should be, socket plugs 8' above the couch, no longer room for full size appliances, etc.)
They will try to bully you EX: They will hold out on giving you your contract until you are sitting in front of them ready to sign so you don't properly review it. They will also say they just can't move the windows they messed up on, they are already in, there's no time, and for you to just deal with it.
They will use the cheapest materials (granite from wholesale location only, cheapest appliances, etc.). Jason will tell you he will do stuff for you but you can't tell his wife Ashley about it and it cannot be in writing.
Jason will make you feel like you are best friends "buddy routine."
They will always make you feel like they are doing you a huge favor.
If you want to risk settling matters in court... here are some tips:
Get everything in writing!!! Don't pay them all up front. The more money they have from you, the more leverage they will use to cheat you
Everything not listed on the contract is extra... windows, proper lighting fixtures, a garbage disposal, light switches, nice fixtures, etc.
I entered into a contract with Jason and Ashley for a tiny home for $50,000. Besides the above sales tactics, the major issues I had with them were:
Being charged $1,500 more just to get more windows, decent appliances (extra for a fridge over $600, a TV over $200), extra for outlets/light switches, lights, facets, sink, toilet, etc.
Not being reimbursed for items returned including windows, cabinets, etc.
Losing my full size appliances that were promised and in writing (lack of space clause).
Being limited to liquidated low end items (granite, electronics, appliances)
I paid $40,500 (50% completed but 80% paid for)
They changed my floor plan, took away my stackable washer/dryer, put windows where my walls should have been, power outlets in random places, 8' high on the living room wall, etc.
2 months ago, we mutually agreed that they would sell my first build and they would build me a larger one next. They refused to write a new contract over our verbal agreement. I refused to pay any more money to them and then get stuck in two builds at the same time (more leverage for them). They found a buyer who paid $59,000 for it. They took away $3,000 in cedar siding and completed the build to the new buyer's specs. They profited over $10,000 more from selling my build to someone else.
Now they are sitting on $40,500 cash from me. They finally agreed to email me the new contract which was flooded with issues. I learned my lesson from before: Those issues would need to be corrected prior to ever trusting them with my business again. Jason lied to me. He promised to build me an upgraded version of a different model he had built. He promised it would be two feet longer with a finished closet, and cedar siding. He promised to build it for $58,000. I asked about upgrades and we settled with $60,000. When we sat down to sign, Ashley refused to go through with his promises without more money. They made an issue about the full cedar siding. They put 40" TV vs. the 52" TV in the previous model. What else were they going to try and cheat me on? They lied/wanted more money and breached our verbal agreement. I refused to sign with them.
Seeing as how we were no longer in a contract, I requested a refund of my $40,500. That was about 2 months ago. They refused to refund my money and now I am opening up litigation against them. BBB is currently hosting mediation between us but they are lying to them as well.
It is ridiculous what these people are trying to formulate as to an argument. They have no leg to stand on and their behavior is nothing short of petty. They profited a lot of money from me and refuse to just simply give me a refund. That is not the kind of people you should do business with.
