Balance, Personality and Flavor. KixKaye, Singaporean Hawker Food House is a hidden gem run by an amazing and talented couple by the name of Kix and Shiela (Kaye is their first born) whose love started as sweethearts and on to the adventure of life in Singapore. Since their life overseas they have brought their love back home with their love of Singaporean cuisine. KixKaye is a no frills place that has the bright personality of the owners seen in its decor and ambience. Even the music was perfect to do my little two step when I had an amazing bite of food. The food...oh the food! Even with a simple menu it was so hard to choose what I wanted but knew right away I was having the Ice Cream Milk Tea and then settled on three dishes, the Salted Egg Chicken Rice, Nasi Lemak and the Singapore Laksa. Everything had a beautiful balance of flavor including their homemade sambal/chili/dipping sauces which I wish was always in my kitchen. I had to fight my girlfriend to get a piece of her Nasi Lemak. And the Laksa...before you dive in please take a sip of the soup before you start and you'll understand the care put into that dish...delicious. So before I head back to my travels I have to go back one more time because I will not rest till I try their Chili Crab, Cereal Prawns and Salted Egg Sotong (Squid). KixKaye, it was a true pleasure meeting you and I will most definitely let my friends know in the food industry where to go when in Bicol. Food people always find good food people.
