Stopped in while in town and sat next to an older gentleman who was trying to get his new iPhone to work. I started to help but he needed to set it up first with email etc. The very kind tech savvy bartender kindly helped in between graciously serving her customers. She went above and beyond to help the old fellow and get him all sorted. I slipped her an extra big tip because she was so kind. She thought I knew the guy but I didn't. I just felt for him as I've likewise been overwhelmed by technology. Great friendly local pub. read more

This feedback has only to do with a bartender and some drinks. I can not speak about the food or entertainment. At the end of our recent fishing trip 4 of us went in to Kito's Kave to have Clam Diggers. We heard they were fabulous and didn't want to leave Petersburg without trying one. Around 11am on August 2nd we ordered three drinks right after some of our friends ordered their drinks. Our friends mentioned to the bartender that the Clam Digger or Bloody Mary that they'd had the week prior had spices and nice garnishes. Sadly, our friends had to get their own spices, and I don't recall if they got any garnish. As a bartender was making ours he told us that if what we wanted was a drink it would take longer if he had to add all of the other items. It seems a little odd because all of the other items are usually part of the drink. If that is all bartender had said I would have left it at that. The bartender finally asked us what type of garnishes we wanted. He started putting individual olives and onions and such into the drink with their own skewer. We suggested one skewer for all of them so he didn't have to use extra ones. He then said to our entire group, "You guys sure are high maintenance. I don't come to your day job and tell you what to do." This was not said in jest and was not said as banter. It was very derogatory toward all of us. We finished our mediocre drinks and left. As we were seated at a table some of our other table friends came in to enjoy what they had the previous week. After hearing the events, they and left to spend over $200 in another establishment. I am usually very forgiving with people and try to give them the benefit of the doubt to help them out. This bartender seems to be either arrogant, new, or so rushed (in an almost empty bar) that his lack of communication skills lost some customers. read more

When the band started I couldn't get a drink, so I went to the harbor bar. When I came back to settle my tab. There was 5 shots a double and an extra beer on my tab. I was told if I disagree I could talk to the manager the next day I did the manager said both bartenders said I sat there at the bar and drank all those drinks for 4 hours. Everyone makes mistakes. We had a lot of fun here! There was a small stage with a band and dance floor, some pool tables and places to sit--and Pel Meni being served inside the bar. Overall a nice atmosphere to have a few drinks and listen to the music with friends. read more

This place has the cutest bartender Eric who is always there to take care of you. I've watched him make me feel safe by kicking out a very drunk guest who happened to be 86 for that week so its not his first rodeo. This is the dance spot for the weekends and the floor room can fit only about 45 people which isn't much room but moving the tables and making it work never hurt nobody. If you are going to smoke the section for that is outside of the bar. This place also offers 2 pool tables each game $0.50 in quarters. My last night there I met Johnna the bartender who happen to be from Vegas too so it was a coincidence to chat up about home and bar life which was nice. read more

Dive bars are the name of the game here in Petersburg, and Kito's would be a great example of the genre in any setting, within or outside of Alaska. Three pool tables, foosball, a bar you can belly-up to, and a dance floor. All you need to complete the scene is a gaggle of local girls, a crowd of drunken fisherman, and a bad cover band. Oh wait, all that, to order, during the summer -- when the seiners are in. The best thing about Kito's? Their closing time often varies. If it's between 12:30 & 2:00 and there's a fight, that signals the end of the night! read more

At first when I came in here, my first impression was, "typical dive bar", but after spending some time here, I kind of enjoyed this bar. It has a "laid back" atmosphere here during the afternoon / happy hours. As for the nightlife, there's a DJ Alvin that performs and keeps the body moving on Fridays & Saturdays. 2 pool tables on the side of the bar. 4 tv's surrounding the bar to watch your game of choice and I moderate size dance floor to get your nightlife groove on. With a various selection of cocktails and locally brewed beers, what can go wrong? The bartenders are nice and attentive to my needs (if they're not too busy with the mass crowd). Kito's Kave is the "Party Hot Spot" during the summer months in Petersburg, Alaska. Everybody is thinking fish "SALMON" everyday all day! I work on the Tendering vessel Nordic Mariner as a Purser. When I am not working we are kicking it in town, most likley we will all go out at night and end up at Kito's! They have pull tab's, pool tables, mexican food and the bartenders there are friggin' AWESOME - meaning . . they know how to pour your booze and better yet , they know your name! I hail from England, and never in my life have I encountered such a warm and friendly atmosphere as I did in Kito's kave. The bar has a fabulous Mexican restaurant encorporated, and the music differs from live blues and rock bands, to the resident DJ taking requests. It is a lively fun bar where everyone is welcome, if you dont have a partner you will find one on the dancefloor, and all are guarunteed a good night - highly recommend this bar to anyone wanting to let their hair down and meet some amazing people!
