I enjoy a good laugh and thus, another reviewer's low marks being partially related to the Finnish…read morestaff SPEAKING FINNISH gave me just the boost of humor I need at 5 a.m. when I can't sleep. When one is visiting another country and one bitches because someone in that country won't speak ones language, one sounds foolish and entitled. I also don't believe for a hot second that they would drop a burger on the floor and serve it. Finland has one of the strictest restaurant and food handling codes and I sincerely doubt that with their open-kitchen situation they'd risk it. I think that's a lie. So now we have an entitled liar giving scathing reviews. Surprise!
All that aside, I'm a vegetarian and I still give 5 stars to Roslund. My husband loves high-quality meat (that sounds all kinds of open to interpretation). These guys are meat experts (woot!) so I spend a bit of time there inquiring about various types of meat (I am beginning to enjoy this). Just tell them what you plan to do with the meat (haha), how much you're looking to spend on the meat (ahem), and they'll give you the perfect cut, at the right price point (please don't be cheap when it comes to meat), and provide tips and pointers on prep and cooking. They're always spot-on, according to Meat Man.
Good people, great meat selection, best burgers in Helsinki (I think I heard that from the meat-eater in the house), and a great place to take visitors from out of town for huge juicy burgers. And all this from someone who won't touch dead meat. Damn. They must be good.
**Note to foreigners, tourists, and/or non-native speakers residing in a Finnish-speaking country (better known as Finland): They're Finnish (surprise!). They speak mostly Finnish. Most Finns speak English well. These guys and gals are the same but it's touch and go. Just like in the US. Where most people speak just one language: English. So when you write a review about how wonderful Roslund is, I suggest you give props to people who have taken the time to learn to speak to you in YOUR native tongue.
