There was a lot of choice at the café, in terms of drinks and cake and they do lunch too. We saw Peter Pan last year and it was a good production. Staff could have been slightly more understanding about my 10month daughter at the time, but that said I would take her again. An asset to Keswick!

And the Dukes has a fine program of arthouse and independent film that just isn't available anywhere else locally. However they do show popular films and have great Sing a Long nights where they show the Sound of Music etc. This cinema isn't about how much popcorn and coke you can ram down your face, it is about watching good films amongst likeminded people. Add to that the fact you can get a drink from the bar and take it in with you and what more could you want. Support this place and other local businesses. The Dukes is one of the things that makes Lancaster a decent place to live in

"Cinema" Good but only 3 screens. Sometimes will show more arty type movies instead of mainstream. Try to avoid the Theatre screen as the chairs are uncomfortable and very little leg room :-( "Food" I've only eaten here once and it was good, most of my friends would recommend it, so a big thumbs up from here.

The Carnegie is a great place to see a band or a play, it is an older building just outside the…read moretown center and houses a Theatre, Monroes Bar, a Cafe and two other rooms which are often used as galleries or workshop areas. The Carnegie usually has a band or act on at the weekend and Monroes bar often has local bands playing, the cafe is open during the day providing good value teas, coffess, cakes and hot food. I have seen few acts in the Theatre and Monroes Bar it alsways has a good atmosphere and never costs the earth to get in.
