My friend and I had lunch at Kirchenwirt after a visit to a winery in nearby Oggau (the restaurant had been a recommendation of the winery owner). It's in the heart of Rust, a beautiful little town. We sat outside, which had a view of the square and a lovely ambiance. (We went inside the restaurant to use the restroom, and the inside is really lovely as well.) We didn't have any drinks, even though this atmosphere really called for a glass of wine or a beer, because we'd just had a wine tasting and had a drive coming up after lunch. But the food was great. We had Viennese fried chicken, potato salad, and goulash with spätzle. (They only had menus in German, but our waiter was wonderful and helped us read the menu to decide what to order.) Our lunch was delicious. The service was friendly. And the views from the outdoor seating were wonderful. I really enjoyed our meal here and would happily repeat it. read more
