In 1903, the Church of Saint Adolfus was consecrated to a Spanish martyr who was executed in the 9th century. It was expanded between 1911 and 1913 and of course, the bells were taken in 1942 and it was severely damage by Allied bombing raids in 1943 and 1944. But the good news is that it was completely rebuilt in 1951 and then renovated in 2005.
The interior of the rebuilt church is quite lovely and is worth a visit. It was open to the public on this Monday morning and I was not disturbed for wanting to sit for a bit in peace. I did not stay for the morning service.
