The service was great and it was very nice inside but I just don't think the food meets the standard for the price point. Their chai was relatively good. Tasted a bit fragrant for my taste and I did add some sweetener. Aloo golbi mattar was good but lacking in complexity and richness. Garlic naan was fine not the best I've had and I've definitely had great naan for cheap. Mango lassi was also fine but not best I've had. Navrattan korma was good but not a big amount or good enough for the price again. Chicken kebab, can't recall the menu name for it sorry, was great I don't have much to say on it aside from it was very aromatic. If you have the money and wanna try it I say go for it but If you don't there are other Indian restaurants in Houston with better prices that are well worth it. This place is a hit or miss. We have had nicest experience and some of the worst food. The service has always been top of the world. The staff is very courteous and nice. They accommodate you everytime. Great service all the time. The ambience is very pleasing. It's clean and always busy. BUT the food is not always like that. The food sometimes are really good. We had booked the restaurant for dinner. The overall experience wasn't worth the hype in both the fields-food and service. Food was at best okay-ish. For appetizers, we had ordered aloo chaat and salad. The chaat had a weird taste and not even remotely close to actual aloo chaat. In the name of fusion, they ended up serving something else. For mango lassi, the straws that were served were so short that it get lost in the glass every time it was left unattended. Not something you expect from a fine dining. We ordered beetroot salad on side which was probably the highlight of the meal, sadly! For entrees, we ordered biriyani, Punjabi thali, Baingan ka bharta, malai kofta, and fish curry. Biriyani was just off bland. Period. Fish was stale and smelled a lot. The best entree was probably Baingan ka bharta and would highly recommend it! The service was okay-ish. No social distancing and lot of noise. Not the vibe that you expect from such upscale restaurants. Kirans' cooking is a mixed bag. The samosas aren't great--the potatoes are undercooked and the random dried fruit she adds on everything doesn't help. She tries to make them fancy like some Michelin or smth, but it just ends up weird. The naan can be good, but sometimes its too oily and makes your stomach hurt. Her paneer makhani is actually really solid, with good flavor and spice, but there are way too many big paneer chunks--it feels unbalanced. The papad is decent as long as it's not the weird kind; there are two kinds she makes, and one of them has an off taste that ruins it. The mango lassi is probably the best thing--cold, sweet, and always refreshing. Chocolate samosas sound cool but don't work at all in real life. Ice cream's simple and actually really good. Overall, some stuff works, but a lot needs rethinking. The restaurant looks incredible and they play movies! The waiters are always friendly and service is never a problem. Kiran's overall is a very good restaurant, I just think they need to stick to traditional food. No need to overcomplicate things Ms. Verma! This is arguably one of my most favorite restaurants in Houston period for the most flavorful food and drink experience. The owner and chef takes such pride in restaurant and it shows through her constant interactions with regular guests and the touches of family pictures and heirlooms throughout the restaurant. Every dish is full of different flavors and in the 4 years I've been coming here I've never been disappointed in any dish I've tried. The meat dishes are always cooked to perfection and have never once been over cooked which is one of the reason I love this restaurant! I have sat in the main dining area twice since I've frequented this restaurant and the service was great but I come here specifically to sit at the bar with Jacob!! Jacobs service is unmatched and one of the best bartenders I've found in the area. Every time I come in I learn something more about the food or traditional Indian culture and cooking. Went here with some of my coworkers. Minus the rental car getting towed I would say that this was an awesome experience (be careful parking near the park on the opposite side of the building that is NOT city parking). This is supposed to be one of the top Indian restaurants in the city so expectations where high. This place did not disappoint. Food was great. The masala dosa was slap-tastic. The lassi was delicious and the ambience and service was top notch. The owner was kicking it next to us and was very kind and chatted with me briefly. I will have to slide back with the fam! P.S. I have been to Kiran's many times. It's a really nice, upscale type Indian meal that is great for large groups. The cocktails are interesting and typically very good. I most recently went in July with my family. The service was very good this time. At my most recent visit, I tried the following dishes: Pani Puri (4/5): Very nice version of pani puri. Ingredients tasted fresh. It's a nice appetizer for a group. Delhi Chaat (3.5/5): Indian street dish with potato, chickpeas, yogurt, and chutneys. This dish was okay, solid but not a standout. Seafood Curry (4.5/5): Very nice curry, with fish, shrimp, and scallops. Great with the basmati rice. Would recommend. Paneer Makhni (4/5): Very nice version of a standard Indian dish. The tomato sauce isn't too sweet, and can be made spicy to preference. I would also recommend ordering some of the naans. There are a lot of interesting takes, including the Kiran's version (goat cheese and rosemary). Overall, Kiran's is a nice meal, great for groups / family celebrations. Would recommend. read more

I came here last night for a little Friendsgiving. The positive-- they have a lovely patio and no one was out there besides us basically the whole time, so that is good if you are concerned with Covid. The bad-- there also was no vibe outside, so music just kind of boring. I have to say I was overall very disappointed in our visit, also due to the fact that I have been hearing so much hype about Kiran's for years. I've heard it is one of Houston's nicest restaurants and especially for Indian food it is the jewel. So with such a reputation, I would expect top notch service. When I entered the host was taking a long to go order for several minutes. I already knew where my friends were, and I just wanted to walk to them but she held up her finger for me to wait. Finally someone else came out to assist me. Our waiter provided fine service until the end of the evening where we asked him to split our meal into the three containers. He seemed annoyed by this, so we offered to do it ourselves he said, no I'll do it then disappeared for a good 20 minutes. Seemed strange. By this point we were out of water and drinks but just wanted to go. We asked for the bill and got it quickly but then our credit cards sat on the table for over 20 minutes with no one coming to check on us. By this point we had been there almost 3 hours. Our waiter was at another table having an extremely lengthy conversation with the other diners. I do not think it is appropriate to disregard your other tables and stay with one table for so long, especially when we asked for the bill. I literally had to wave my hands over my head and call out to him and tell him that we needed to get going. Lastly I was no blown away by the food. It just tasted like anywhere else I have gotten Indian food. I do feel bad to leave a negative review especially during hard hitting times of Covid, but if I am going to pay double of what I would pay somewhere else, I think they really need to step up their game. read more

Incredible! Definitely check out the bar "happy hour " Mon- Thurs ... it's delicious! It has a special bar menu at that time with a few happy hour priced items. We ordered the Rose martini (which actually tastes like a less sweet lychee martini! ) the nachos, the lamb meatballs & lamb ribs. Everything was top notch and Gary the bartender was friendly and efficient! The decor inside is so good and on Friday's in the bar area there's live jazz music! Valet was easy and costs $8, but the QR code on your ticket didn't seem to work to notify them that you were ready to retrieve your car. All in all a spectacular evening at Kiran's bar! read more

Always happy here and can't wait to try the high noon tea. It is a little pricier, but always happy in the end. There is a parking garage, street parking and a valet. Additionally, apart from the outside, I have had two dinners in the Houston summer in their outdoor area. Nice breezeway and fans that are not loud but do their job. They also do a good job with the greenery and you don't even realize you are on a main drag. Suggestion: come with intention to share and/or full family style Staff is super attentive, and I think this may make the reservation check-in experience a little choppy, but always welcoming. Also heard the owner is a woman who created this all, which is pretty awesome! You have to try the both the Thali's at least once and fun with friends. There is a vegetarian and non, both are perfect for exploration if you are new to Indian food. Also, it might seem like a bit for $6 for naan, but 100% worth it!! So far the Lasooni is always my favorite. The first time I had the Kiran's I loved it, but this visit it seemed like I was not given the proper naan. Another surprising win is the caprese, the Italian name made me question but it was a perfect pairing. Other amazing dishes: beet salad, any of their lamb chops are cooked to perfection, butter and vindaloo! Service was par excellence. Well informed waiters and clean white table cloths. The food was slow to arrive and the drinking glasses smelled. I am sure a hot run in the dishwasher should take care of the problem. I have given a three because of several things. Presentation is important enough to visuals and I was not impressed with any. We ordered three chicken dishes and the taste was quite the same. Perhaps the same curry base was being used for all..And on the spicy end. The bread came partially uncooked. Food was disappointing over all. I'm not sure if there is an Indian chef in the kitchen but I believe there needs to be some tweaking to improve the quality for the price. read more

This review is for Kiran's afternoon tea. Absolutely fantastic! Have been here a few times, and I've had an amazing time each time. Tea time includes multiple courses of tea paired with delicious finger foods that will surprisingly fill you up at the end. They offer a veg and non veg menu. They cater to allergies very well. Kiran's is definitely upscale and one of the prettiest Indian restaurants I have ever been to. They recently completed renovations and the space is twice the size of the original restaurant. Clearly, Kiran's is a favorite for Houstonites and it is now a favorite of mine. My girlfriend and I dined on the mushroom and feta samosas, the chicken tikka masala, lamb shank, Kiran's naan as well as the gobi naan. The service we received from Narayan was great and attentive and I look forward to my next visit. read more

Their naan is worth the trip alone but they have street food and fabulous dishes and the restaurant itself is spectacular and just beautiful!!! I ordered the sliders from the bar menu and a Navrattan Korma and Kiran's naan. Highly recommend the sliders which were such a good deal and totally filled me. I didn't need to order the korma or naan which was tasty but didn't seem special enough for me to be paying that much more than other places. Omg, my husband and I came here for our Valentine's Day date night. We absolutely LOVED IT. Walking in Kirans was packed with people of many different nationalities. And that's how you know the food is good! There's something for everyone's preference. Kiran herself specially curated the menu (per our server), and I could tell! Well thought out. We started out with the Papadum and the chutney platter which is a great dish of trying many traditional and non traditional Indian Chutney's. There was a lime chutney with a floral undertone, tamarind like a bbq, mango chutney and mint! All very delicious and different. We also tried the Raj Katori which is a traditional Indian street food. Lentil "dumplings," in a yogurt like parfait. An interesting melody of flavors but, served cold. Which I didn't expect! My entree was spot on, I got the chicken vandaloo and it very spicy, and savory. I would 100 percent recommend it to everyone. Finishing up dinner, I ended the night with the Chai tea which was a perfect blend of spices. And the Chocolate Molton cake with vanilla bean ice cream. Also, parking is validated in the garage! This was my first time trying Indian food and I really liked it! Tried a little bit of everything on the menu and tried spicy foods that I haven't tried before. The food is a bit pricey but worth it!
