This meal was hands down in our top 3 of our 8 day Madrid trip! The avocado dish was amazing. The pasta was OMG! I think both our eyes rolled back into our heads for this one. Make a reservation, we showed up around 8pm and were told we could only have the table for an hour. Thankfully we are Americans so we eat quickly and don't sit for hours. Plating is gorgeous. Decor is to die for. Food is heavenly. They have an English menu and wifi however our servers English was as good as our Spanish so that was fun lol she was so sweet and patient with us! We all tried our best to communicate and it was fabulous!!

That day, we started off with edamame. Soup was squash and avocado. Never thOught of this tasty combo! For the main, we had vegan tacos with avocado slices on top. I wish there was more avocado on top, but it was a good meal. Dessert was a avocado chocolate mousse. It was vegan. Nice and creamy. Not too sweet. I will definitely try to recreate this dessert at home! The menU of the day comes with a drink. We chose the non-alcoholic mint mojito. Truly refreshing with the big ice cubes standard in Spain. Service was attentive. The decor was fun. Like the mirror on the ceiling.

Their menu is marked well so you can rest assured they know about allergies. However, the service left something to be desired. Two servers worked the floor while we were there and we got the dud between the two. He was hasty and not listening well. We ordered the squid ink spaghetti and a pizza, artichokes to start. The artichokes were our favorite - Spanish artichokes are delicious and they were done well here, tender and paired with a great aioli. The actual entrees lacked taste and texture- the shrimp was over cooked and the pasta was in need of flavor. You need reservations here since they fill up quickly. I'd come back since it's a gluten free safe restaurant but I wouldn't say it's a must try in Madrid.

The rest of the early crowd was quick in ordering, obviously knowing the menu by heart. We started with the burrata, served with a nice arugula salad. It was a pleasant starter with traditional flavor, very enjoyable with a glass of wine! Pasta was on the brain for all of us. The stars of the meal were the Pest Gnocchi and Spaghetti Bolognese. The gnocchi were obviously house made, plump and tender. The pesto cream sauce was full of flavor and matched perfectly with the gnocchi. The Bolognese was a close second, obviously a nice slow cooked sauce that was very traditional in flavor and brought a lot to the party. Both the Black Pasta or Fettucine either. Both had solid traditional flavors and were well prepared. The deserts were a nice add, simple, traditional and made in-house. The cheesecake was moist and the tiramisu was full of flavor. This is a simple and traditional Italian spot. Wonderful service with no frills, and a great family environment. They also have a solid wine list. Enjoy!

Sanissimo strives to deliver healthy but tasty food options while respecting the environment! We ordered a large assortment of dishes but the three I remember the most were the Spartan Burger, Pioneer Wrap, and Vegetarian Lasagna! The Spartan was centered around an artisan vegetable meat patty made of pumpkin, eggplant, onion, and mushrooms. It was then assembled with zucchini, green olive, vegan cheese, lamb's lettuce, sweet mustard, veganesse, and gluten-free bread. We also got one variation where we substituted the patty with fake chicken. Overall I loved trying the Spartan, it was extremely fresh and delivered an amazing combination of flavors. The next best item was the Pioneer wrap which was made with spinach hummus, quinoa, mushrooms, lettuce, tzatziki, and veganesse. Overall the Pioneer was fresh and light but was packed with flavor. Finally the vegetarian lasagna had no cheese! This came as a surprise to one of my friends but was rather layers of vegetables all baked together. Although it was my least favorite of three items I tried, it was still a quality dish. Every dish is also served with a side of potatoes and sauce of your choice!

Excellent All Around!…read more We arrived a bit early for lunch, so we had the place to ourselves. The host was helpful and gracious, which made our poor Spanish a non-issue. The service is a bit slow, but that is not a complaint. The result is food that is prepared and presented with care. If we lived in Madrid, this would be one of our regular haunts.
